Samtengang trek is one of the easy lower altitude treks in Bhutan that engages forests, several rural historical and religious sites and mystic settlements above the valleys where you can be rewarded with the splendid views of the mountain peaks and other natural beauties. This trek is worth for your lifetime of experience.

  • An experienced, English-speaking and government-licensed holder trek leader and assistant trek leader (4 trekkers: 1 assistant guide)

  • Day 1

    Arrival at Paro (2195m) & Onwards to Thimphu Travel Duration: 1 hr 30 min

  • Upon your arrival at Paro, our representatives will welcome you and assist you to transfer to Thimphu for hotel check-in. Overnight in hotel.

  • Day 2

    Thimphu to Punakha (1310m) Travel Duration: 2 hr 30 min

  • In the morning after breakfast, we will head off to Punakha via Dochula Pass (3150m) passing through the scenic views en route and can get a glimpse of everyday life in this remote area of Bhutan. On reaching Punakha, you'll visit Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 by the Shabdrung, the ‘Unifier of Bhutan’ and the three-story main temple of the Punakha Dzong is a breathtaking example of traditional architecture decorated in gold and silver. Later, walk to Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of the Drukpa Kuenly who is also known as the Divine Madman and return to the hotel in the evening. Overnight in Punakha

  • Day 3

    Punakha to Limbukha (1980 m) Hiking Duration: 4/5 hrs

  • After breakfast, the trek starts with crossing over the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan (180m) across the Pho Chhu. Ascending through lush pine forests, fern, oak and some rhododendron a huge chorten, Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal, can be seen. Enroute, you will visit a village known as Dompala. From here if you are lucky, you can view Jumolhari, Kang Bum, and Tiger mountain. Afterward, we continue our trail and reach the village of Limbukha. Overnight in Limukha

  • Day 4

    Limbukha to Chungsakha (1850 m) Hiking Distance: 4/5 hrs

  • After breakfast, continue your trek as we ascend up a small ridge and then descend to a small side valley. After some walking, we reach a small pass from where you can view Dochu La, Jumolhari, Kang Bum, Tiger Mountain, as well as Talo Lhakhang and Nobgang Lhakhang down in the valley. After descending the pass, we reach Dagegon village followed by Samtengang village and Chhuni Gompa. Continuing the trail, we finally reach Chungsakha. Overnight in local lodge.

  • Day 5

    Chungsakha to Samtengang Hiking Duration: 5/6 hrs

  • We continue our trail as we start descending for 45 mins and from here the trail is clear and steep ad we pass through several villages. The trail leads you through the village of Samtengang and will be camping near the lake which is a beautiful campsite in the forest just below the Samtengang. Overnight in camp.

  • Day 6

    Samtengang to Wangdue (2350 m) Hiking Duration: 3 hrs Travel Duration: 2 hrs

  • In the morning, after breakfast, we start our last day of the trek as we pass through the agricultural fields, heading into the valley of the Dang Chhu. After descending, the road is met at the bridge of Tika Zam. We then take a vehicle and reach Wangdue. Overnight at a hotel in Wangdue.

  • Day 7

    Wangdue to Paro (2250 m) Travel Duration: 3 hrs

  • In the morning you will be driven back to Paro and you will have the time to relax for rest of the day. You'll have rest of the day as free time and do as you like. Overnight in hotel.

  • Day 8


  • Have your breakfast in the hotel in an early morning and later on our office representative will transfer you to the airport for flight to your onward destination. Have a safe journey onwards.
