Capital of Temples- Kathmandu is religiously one of the most important destinations in Nepal. One of the major Hindu “Shakti Peeths”, Pashupatinath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located in Kathmandu. The oldest Hindu Temple of Kathmandu Changunarayan lies here in the neighboring city of Bhaktapur. Lord Bishnu lies on the bed of serpents at the “Budanilkantha” Temple, which is situated some 10 km north of Kathmandu. 

The Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur have a cluster of ancient and medieval temples. These temples at these Durbar Squares are highly holy destinations where Hindu devotees throng daily to offer prayers. The temple of Dakshinkali, which is 22 kilometers Southeast of Kathmandu is a revered temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali. Moreover, there are tons of other Hindu pilgrim sites you can explore through.

Itinerary

Day 1Sightseeing in Kathmandu

The Capital of Temples tour starts with visiting the UNESCO world heritage site Kathmandu Durbar Square where you can observe the typical wood-carved temples and buildings reflecting the ancient Kathmandu city and then you will be heading towards Swayambhunath- the monkey temple where you can observe the religious harmony and tolerance between the Buddhist religion and Hindu religion along with that enjoy the panoramic view of Kathmandu city and the Himalaya ranges from here.

Then you can have your lunch on the way and after that, you will be visiting the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the biggest pilgrimage sites for the Hindu religion people in southeast Asia, explore the surroundings and you can observe the ritual body cremating ceremony process of the Hindu people at the bank of holy Bagmati river and then visit another pilgrimage site nearby to the Pashupatinath Temple known as Guweyswori Temple, explore the surroundings and then you will go to visit the another UNESCO world heritage site Buddhanath Stupa. It was built in 600 A.D. and is the only one of a kind of stupa reflecting Buddhism in the world. Explore the surroundings of Buddhanath Stupa and after completing your sightseeing get back to the hotel and rest.

Day 2Sightseeing tour around Lalitpur

After breakfast, you will start your tour from another ancient city nearby to Kathmandu known as Lalitpur, you will be visiting another UNESCO world heritage site over here in Patan, Krishna Temple, Patan Durbar Square, and the other temples nearby this site are the major attraction of this place, explore the surroundings and later on you can visit the Patan museum as well where you can find the archaeological history and the facts regarding the Patan and the Kings who reigned Patan. After that, you will be visiting the Golden Temple which is a major attraction place for both Hindu and Buddhist people, and then go to visit Banglamukhi Temple and explore its surroundings after completing your sight seen in Patan you will be heading towards Dakshinkali temple which is about one hour drive away.

Day 3Sightseeing in Bhaktapur & Changunarayan

Today, you will be visiting the northeast side of the valley to another oldest city of Nepal known as Bhaktapur. After reaching Bhaktapur you will be amazed by seeing the city structure as till today the city has been able to intact its old form, you can observe the old wood-carved buildings all around Bhaktapur.

Then you will be visiting another UNESCO World Heritage site, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, 55 Window Palace. Explore the surroundings and later on visit the Nyatopola Temple, one of the biggest temples in Nepal and explore the surroundings and then you will visit the clay factory where the potters make the products out of clay in a traditional way. Afterward, you will visit Changunarayan. After completing your sightseeing you will get back to Kathmandu check in at the hotel and have a rest.

Day 4Half day sightseeing Budhanilkantha

This is the last day of your tour. You will travel to Budhanilkantha another religious site in the valley. It is said that the Ex-King dynasty is not allowed to visit the area due to its history. This marks the end of the Capital of Temples tour.
