Nepal has many hidden gems and Ama Yangri peak is one of the gems. Located in the Helambu region of Sindhupalchowk district, it is one of the isolated and less popular but an amazing hiking destination in the Helambu region. Ama Yangri peak lies at the altitude of 3771 and is considered to be one of the highest peaks around Kathmandu Valley. According to the myth, Ama Yangri is considered to be a deity which has turned into the protector of the Helambu region. The Ama Yangri peak can be compared to the Poon hill of the Annapurna region in terms of views of the mountains. The route is filled with diverse forests, birds and little beautiful villages. This trek is beautiful to experience both in the natural and cultural way.

  • Day 1

    Drive from Kathmandu to Timbu & hike to Tarke Ghyang (2590 m), Driving Duration: 4 hours Hiking Duration: 5 hours

  • In the morning, our guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Timbu. It is a 4-hour drive from Kathmandu. Upon reaching Timbu, we will start our hiking to Tarke Ghyang. The trails lead us through the dense forest, where you can sight many birds, and villages. Tarke Ghyang is located just at the foothill of Tarke Ghyang. Overnight in local lodge.

  • Day 2

    Hike to Ama Yangri Peak (3771 m) & Back to Tarke Gyang, Hiking Duration: 4 hours

  • Ama Yang Ri, also considered as a hidden gem in Helambu, is a worth to visit the Yang Ri Peak, locally known as Ama Jyomo Yangri, and is believed to be Holy Mountain. In ancient times, it is believed that many Buddhist deities meditated inside the cave. Also, many ancient monasteries and sacred caves are found here. Overnight in local lodge.

  • Day 3

    Tarke Ghyang to Timbu and Drive Back to Kathmandu, Hiking Duration: 4 hours Driving Duration: 4 hours

  • Today, you'll retrace your way back to Timbu via the same route. From here, our private vehicle will drive you back to Kathmandu and drop you to your hotel.
