The Rara Lake is the biggest and deepest freshwater lake at an altitude of 2,990 m in the Nepal Himalayas. It is the main feature of the Rara National Park, located in the Jumla and Mugu Districts. Rara Lake, being surrounded by Rara National Park, has unique flora and fauna importance with rare and vulnerable species. Though Rara region does not have good infrastructural facilities by its tough geography, traveling there is really a worth. Besides the spectacular natural beauty, you can experience the social, cultural, human lifestyle and other aspects there. It would be better if you have enthusiasm and endurance for riding through diverse geography, weather, and road conditions as you know Nepal is a country with rugged terrains & winding mountainous roads.
Starting our journey from Kathmandu, we ride to the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini. From there, we ride smoothly through the plain lands of Terai with dense forests on both sides of the road. The road is a little rough once we enter the hilly region. So, do expect some off-road riding. We ride along the winding roads with full of twist and turns and enter the Rara National Park. Once, you enter the Rara National Park you'll notice the change in the vegetation and reach Rara Lake.
