The Nar Phu Valley trek is one of the untouched and silent trekking trails in the north of the Annapurna region where you have excellent views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal, Tilicho peak and many more. The trek begins from Bhulbhule and takes you over a scenic trail to Nar village and Phu village. One can experience the remote villages, narrow canyons, lovely forests, amazing rock formations, yaks, old Buddhist monasteries and unique Himalayan cultures during the trek. Nar Phu Valley is located in the remote area in between the famous Damodar Kunda and the Annapurna region where people of various ethnic groups such as Gurung, Magar, Manangi and Bhotes live and follow Tibetan Buddhism for centuries. Explore the Tibetan village still in the typical old form and yet to be touched by the outer world.

The journey starts with a drive from Kathmandu over the Lamjung highway to reach Bhulbhule. We stop at Chyamje and begin our trekking, going through Koto and Meta before we reach Phu village. In Phu village, we visit the iconic Tashi Lakhang Monastery which is listed in the 108 best monasteries of the world. from this place, we walk further through the moraine towards Nar Village, accompanied by Lamjung Himal, Tilicho, Annapurna and many others. On crossing the Kang La Pass, we will return via the Annapurna circuit trek route. Following the trail, we will cross the world famous Thorong La Pass and Muktinath, located in the lower Mustang region. Finally, our journey ends after a scenic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara.

21-day trek to Nar Phu valley

  • Day 1

    Arrival in Kathmandu (1400 m)

  • Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu airport, our representative will meet, greet and welcome you and you will be transferred to your confirmed hotel. Once you reach the hotel, check-in and have some rest as you might be having a jet lag. Later on, you can enjoy you time on the hotel or you can stroll around the streets of Thamel. Overnight accommodation will be in a hotel.

  • Day 2

    Free day in Kathmandu

  • Today is you free day in Kathmandu. After having breakfast in the hotel you have multiple options to spend the day, Kathmandu is a diverse and cultural city and has plenty to offer. You can visit (one of) the three most important religious sites: Swyamambhunath (also known as the monkey temple), Pashunpatinath temple (one of the biggest pilgrimage sites for the hindu religion) and/or Boudhanath Stupa (a one of a kind stupa reflecting Buddhism in the world). Furthermore, you can wander around the streets of Old Town or search for souvenirs or tokes of love for you friends, relatives or family. Overnight accommodation will be in a hotel.

  • Day 3

    Kathmandu to Bhulbule (820 m), Driving duration: 6 to 7 hours

  • We start our drive from Kathmandu to Bhubhule in the west direction for about 6 to 7 hours. During the drive, we will be accompanied by the serene surroundings of the countryside with various picturesque views of rivers, fields, hills and forests along the way. On reaching Bhulbhule, check-in to the lodge and get some rest. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 4

    Bhulbule to Bahundanda (1310 m), Hiking duration: 5 to 6 hours

  • From today, we start our trekking as we leave Bhulbhule village and pass the waterfall alongside the river bank before climbing up and reach Bahundanda to spend the night. You can explore the village if there is some time left. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 5

    Bahundanda to Chyamje (1430 m), Hiking duration: 5 to 6 hours

  • After breakfast, we continue on the trail to Syange village passing through fields and local settlements for about two hours. After a short descend we'll cross a long bridge over the Marsyangdi river to reach Syange. The trail from Syange takes you steadily up from the river to a vertical climb to Jagat. We then move along a rocky path and pass through a tall, picturesque waterfall which finally brings us to Chyamje. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 6

    Chyamje ro Dharapani (1920 m), Hiking duration: 5 hours

  • Have your breakfast and get ready to head towards your next destination, Dharapani. The trail goes along the bank of the Marshyangdi river and you will start ascending to reach Tal, from where you'll enter the Manang district. The trail then continues through the barley, rice and potato fields and pine forests. After some time, you will reach Kodo village which leads you to Dharapani. Dharapani is one of the bigger villages in the Manang valley. After reaching Dharapani, check-in to the lodge and have some rest. Later on, you can explore the surroundings. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 7

    Dharapani to Koto (2600 m), Hiking druation: 6 to 7 hours

  • Continuing the walk over a mule track in-between a Fir, higher Oak and Maple forest, we walk along the river bank for some time. Along the way, you have spectacular views of Mount Manaslu and Peak 29. The trail will take you through a pine forest until you reach Latamarang, have some rest for a while before we continue our hike the forest until we reach Koto. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 8

    Koto to Meta (3560 m), Hiking duration: 7 to 8 hours

  • After having your breakfast, we will pass through a checkpoint and after completing the formalities, we continue our trek along the river back of Soti Khola. We will be moving past pine forests, rivers and suspension bridges before we reach Dharmasala. After walking for some time through woodland, we ascend steadily to reach Meta village. From here, we have touched the base of the Tibetan Plateau and have a splendid view of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 9

    Meta to Phu village (4250 m), Hiking duration: 7 to 8 hours

  • After breakfast, we continue our trail along the river bank and come across some mani shortens. We then climb from the riverbed until we reach the entrance of Phu Valley. From here, we trek for about two hours ro one of the hidden villages; Phu village. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge. 

  • Day 10

    Acclimatization day at Phu valley

  • Today is your acclimatization day in Phu village, it is better to acclimatize in the environment instead of resting in high altitude. Since you are in the hidden valley of the Annapurna region, explore the surroundings as you can get insights on Lama, Ghale and Gurung culture and lifestyle. You can also explore one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries and enjoy the magnifying vistas of Himlung Himal and the other snow capped mountains in Phu valley. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge. 

  • Day 11

    Phu village to Nar village (4150 m), hiking duration: 6 to 7 hours

  • After having your breakfast, you will trek back to Phu gate Khyang and continue your way to Narrow village. Along the way, you will see some beautiful gorges and waterfalls along with the view of the mighty Pisang peak. After some gradual walking, we cross the Narrow gate on the top of the hill and reach Nar village. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 12

    Explore Nar village

  • Today, we will explore another hidden village of the Annapurna region; Nar village. You can spend the day by going on a short hike to the nearby regions or experience the culture and lifestyle of the Nar village. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 13

    Nar village to Ngwal (3660 m) via Kang La (5322 m), Hiking duration: 8 to 9 hours

  • For today, we have a challenging and long day. Nevertheless, it is very worthwhile as we traverse through the Kang La pass. As we reach the top of the pass after a quick ascent, we have a magnificent view of Pisang peak, Annapurna II, Gangapurna and Tilicho peak. Afterwards, we cross the Kang La pass and descend for an hour to a grassy lane which leads us to Ngawal. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge. 

  • Day 14

    Ngwal to Manang (3549 m), Hiking duration: 4 to 5 hours

  • After breakfast, we continue on our trail with grasslands on both sides. Along the trail, one can see Braga village with its splendid monastery with shortens and mani walls. The giant peaks of Annapurna II (7937 m), Annapurna III (7555 m), Annapurna IV (7525 m), Gangapurna (7455 m) and Tilicho peak (7134 m) appear before us. After a small ascend, we arrive in manang to stay the night. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 15

    Manag to Letdar (4250 m), Hiking duration: 5 to 6 hours

  • After breakfast, we move further towards Thorang La. We traverse over a trail that passes through alpine pastures to scrubby forests of juniper and ascend to Tenki, leaving the arshyangdi River. Form Tenki, you will walk continuously upwards to Letdar. On the way, you can see the herds of blue sheep grazing on the steep slopes. After reaching Letdar, check-in to the lodge and rest for a while before exploring the surroundings. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 16

    Letdar to Thorong High Camp (4600 m), Hiking duration: 5 to 6 hours

  • Leaving Letdar behind, we'll ascend steadily to an edge before descending to the Marsyangdi river and cross a wooden bridge. After a little climb up the peak path on the bank, we move further to Thorung High Camp. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 17

    Thorong High Camp to Muktinath (3800 m) via Thorong La Pass (5416 m), Hiking duration: 6 to 7 hours

  • Shortly after leaving Thorang high pass, we'll reach Thorong La pass. You can see the outstanding views of Gangapurna, Annapurna, Thorong peak and Khatung Kang peak. We then descend to Muktinath which continues for about 4 to 5 hours. We drop to Muktinath where we will be welcomed by the prayer flags and superb views of Dhaulagiri. Muktinath is also the habitat for many Tibetans and Buddhists. You can visit the surroundings of the Muktinath temple and enjoy the village. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 18

    Muktinath to Jomsom (2715 m) via Kagbeni (2810 m), Hiking duration: 5 to 6 hours

  • in the morning, you can do the traditional Puja at Muktinath temple which is believed to bless you with salvations form your sins. Later, we descend down to Kagbeni which gives a flavor of the isolated Mustang and division of the Sakya Buddhist can be found. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

  • Day 19

    Flight form Jomson to Pokhara, Flight duration: 30 minutes

  • After having your breakfast, you will fly from Jomson to Pokhara, taking about 30 minutes. On reaching Pokhara, check-in to the hotel and rest or do some sightseeing around Pokhara. Pokhara is beautiful city which offers a big lake, temples of Hindus and Buddhists, caves and mountain views. An ideal way to expierece the beauty of Pokhara is by taking a boat ride on Phewa lake, which offers views of the Annapurna, Manaslu and Dhaulagiri ranges. Overnight accommodation will be in a hotel.

  • Day 20

    Pokhara to Kathmandu, Driving duration: 6 to 7 hours

  • Leaving behind the touristic capital of Nepal, we drive for around 6 hours to reach Kathmandu. Enjoy the vegetation while you're driving back and on the left side, the Trishuli river will be accompanying you throughout the way. On arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transfered to the hotel. You can rest and relax in the hotel or you can stroll around the streets of Thamel, looking for souvenirs, handicrafts or tokes of love for your loved ones. Overnight accommodation will be in a hotel.

  • Day 21


  • today is the last day of your program. After having breakfast, you will pack your luggage, get fresh and check-out form the hotel. You will be transferred to the International airport to catch the flight to your onward destination regarding your flight time. Have a safe journey onwards.
