Kathmandu is religiously one of the most important destinations in Nepal. One of the major Hindu “Shakti Peeths”, Pashupatinath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located in Kathmandu. The oldest Hindu Temple of Kathmandu Changunarayan lies here in the neighboring city of Bhaktapur. Lord Bishnu lies on the bed of serpents at the "Budanilkantha” Temple, which is situated some 10 km north of Kathmandu.
The Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur have a cluster of ancient and medieval temples. These temples at these Durbar Squares are highly holy destinations where Hindu devotees throng daily to offer prayers. The temple of Dakshinkali, which is 22 kilometers Southeast of Kathmandu is a revered temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali. Moreover, there are tons of other Hindu pilgrim sites you can explore through.
Truly, a blessed valley, Kathmandu is a sacred destination for Hindu pilgrims. A playground for Gods and Goddess as per the Hindu myths Kathmandu is among few cities of South Asia where people start their days with prayers and pass by to greet a God or Goddess seating quietly in one of the thousand temples. Besides these, there are many more Buddhist pilgrim sites like Boudha, Swoyambhu, Namobuddha and numerous other Hindu & Buddhist pilgrim sites that you can explore.
