Near the valley, you will see the devastation caused in 1998 when the wall of SabaiTsho, a glacial lake, broke and flooded the valley. We will also catch our first glimpses of Mera from the south, with all 3 peaks visible. You will walk for some minutes to a pleasant grassy field, which is today's campsite.

Accommodation: Overnight in Camp at Hinku Valley Camp.

Today you are in the Hinku Valley camp. After having breakfast, you will cross over the river by a yak herder's bridge and join the main trail. The trail leads you to the day's ultimate destination; the beautiful village of Kote. The village primarily serves the trekking groups that come for Mera peak climbing.

After your breakfast gets ready to head towards Tagnag, On the way you will see the views of dramatic peaks of the valley; KusumKanguru. The path then leads up on to the pastures on the left-hand side and pleasant easy trails to Tagg. Today you will also enjoy the view of Mera Peak, initially at the confluence of the SanuDrangka above Kote. If the weather is clear, you can see the beautiful south face of Mera Peak. Now, this is time for your final approach to Tagnag. You are now among the mountains and starting to prepare for your climb.

Accommodation: Overnight at Camp at Tagnag.

After your breakfast, you will start to hike towards Khahare. From Khahare, you can experience the excellent view of the valley to the north of the Hinku Nup glacier and the line of peaks beyond it. You will walk through the easy trail until you reach the last section. The last part up to the base camp at Khahare is steep and you have to go to a higher altitude. The climb is short and you will reach there during lunchtime.

Accommodation: Overnight at Camp at Khahare.

Have your breakfast in the morning and today you will have to climb steadily out of the valley and up to lateral moraine and grassy culverts to the last camp below the snowline. The route is fairly straightforward. You will take rest and prepare yourself for the next day's climbing attempt as well.

Accommodation: Overnight in Camp at Mera Base Camp.

These three days going to be tough and you and your team member will plan and the weather needs to favor your side too, you would move up to the rock and glaciated camp just off the Mera La saddle at approx. 5400m/17712ft. Plastic mountaineering boots are usually worn from the base through to the summit bid and return. Whilst they feel clumsy they are perfect for the job, providing warmth, protection, and stability for the variable terrain including loose rocks, snow, and ice. Another camp is set halfway up the long North Slope of the mountain, at about 5700m/18696ft near a rock knob. Although it is a shorter distance here, it can be difficult in poor conditions and you are at altitude and are harder and further than it first appears.

The summit bid will be made early in the morning (anywhere from 2 am to 5 am) from this high camp, and take around 4 to 6 hours to make the summit. Whilst the distance doesn't look far, you can be assured that it will be hard work, and all the preparations and a positive, tempered attitude will pay off here. It is usually necessary to rope up for much of the summit approach due to crevasse hazards along the route. The route can vary depending on the conditions of the season but usually skirts around a major shoulder in front of us to the backside of the mountain and then traverse in a fairly straightforward approach to the summit knob. As the light comes, you can enjoy incredible views across to Baruntse (7129 m), Chamlang (7319 m) and NauLekh (6360 m) with Makalu (8481 m) looming behind. Further to our left is Everest, peaking over several unnamed peaks of the Hinku. To the south, you can see for miles down to the terrain.

Aim to make the summit early/mid-morning and return to base camp after the summit. The exact schedule will depend on many factors, including the weather, condition of the route and condition of the members. Our contingency of equipment and experienced staff and a time buffer gives us a fair amount of flexibility to achieve success for all who have worked hard and consistently from the beginning of the expedition. The day will be long, and this is where all the training beforehand, the trek approach and the right attitude will combine to give you stamina and confidence to be part of a sound team, with optimum chances for the summit.

Accommodation: Overnight at Camp at Mera.

You will need to make a relatively early start today. Once our porters are organized you will commence your most remote stages of the expedition. You descend into the Hinku valley near to five large glacial lakes that sprawl out before us. They are known as PanchPokhari (five lakes). The Amphu Lapcha pass is situated immediately at the head of the valley to our right and is the low point on the ridge between the Hinku and the Imja valleys. For this day or so you are in the Hinku. A new vista of peaks spans out before us including Amadablam to the distant westward and many unnamed peaks. The camp is set to close to the rocks that lead up to the pass. On these stages, you ask that members be flexible and co-operative. Camps will be set where conditions allow, and your leader will keep you advised as to each day's plan.

Accommodation: Overnight in Camp at Hinku Valley.

Today is a rest day for you and also the final preparations and gear checks for your pass crossing Amphu Lapcha. Have enough rest physically today as tomorrow is another tough climbing for you. If you want to explore the surroundings make sure not to get tired and exhausted.

Accommodation: Overnight in Camp at Amphu Lapcha Base Camp.

After early breakfast, an alpine starts for our pass crossing. Once again, ferrying across all our loads together with all party members, crew, porters, and members take time. The approach to the pass from the Hinku is deceptive. Facing east and southward there is much more sun and little snow, just a collection of rocks that gradually lead up to the gap we travel through. On the north-facing side, you find steep slopes of snow that you must take care of to descend by fixed ropes to the snow basins below and subsequent moraine and alpine valley beyond. The views from this pass crossing to the peaks of Khumbu are unmatched. Any spare moment one may have whilst you are climbing and descending will allow one to appreciate the spectacle of the peaks of the region.

Accommodation: Overnight in Camp at Island Peak Base Camp.

Have your breakfast and start to head towards Lukla. Your trek starts descending through the famous Khumbu Valley to Tengboche Monastery and Namche Bazaar. Namche is known as the Sherpa capital and it is a great place to wander around, visit the Tibetan stalls or enjoy the Swiss bakeries. You descend the slopes of Namche to the Dudh Koshi joining the main trail to follow at Riverside through numerous villages to Phakding. On crossing the bridge, you trek a short distance up and around, to the broad flat spur that Lukla lies upon. The last night is always memorable for the end of the trip celebration with all the crew and porters.

Accommodation: Overnight in best available Hotel at Lukla.

After early morning breakfast in Lukla, you will fly back to Kathmandu, make sure to get your seat on the left side in the plane as from this site you will be able to witness the panoramic and majestic view of the Himalayas ranging from north to the far east. Upon arrival, our guide will transfer you to your hotel. Check-in the hotel and have a sound rest.

Accommodation: Overnight Yatri Suites & Spa in Kathmandu.

Our representative will pick you up and drive you to Kathmandu. You will be advised and assisted with your onward travel arrangements and transfer to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport by our private van around 3 hours before your flight schedule and flight back to your home/other travel destination.
