How do I Reach Everest Base Camp

After arriving at Lukla Airport, the long hike through the Khumbu Region begins, and the destination of the day is Phakding. The joy of trekking is not in achieving the destination, but rather in enjoying the magnificent scenery along the route. Along the way you'll pass through typical Sherpa villages, stunning landscapes, lush forests, and you will cross a number of suspension bridges. The next day, you'll trek through Namche Bazaar and see the massive mountain rising to the sky in its splendor. While we continue our trek to get to Sagarmatha National Park, where we can obtain permits to continue our hike. We'll continue our EBC journey until we arrive at Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Mount Everest. The most popular stop-overs among Phakding along with Namche Bazar (3,440 m/11,286 ft) are Tok Tok, Benkar, Jorsalle and Monjo. These villages all have massive stones that are carved with Buddhist script. Buddhist language. The journey we take takes us over numerous suspension bridges with high-quality suspension as we head toward Namche Bazaar. After a gruelling uphill hike to Namche Bazaar. At this point, you have gained a considerable height and it is important to adjust. 

At Namche Bazaar we continue our journey towards Tengboche which is another Khumbu region treasure. The well-known Tengboche Monastery lies at the elevation of 3,867m. The atmosphere is peaceful, serene and ideal for prayer and meditation. It is a trek towards Dingboche (4,410m/14,470ft) and from which we can view the whole Himalayan ranges of the Khumbu region, including Lhotse ( 8,516m/27,940ft), Nuptse (7,861m/25,791 ft), Makalu (8,485m/27,838ft), Cho Oyu (8,189m/26,867ft), Ama Dablam (6,812m/22,349ft) and many others. As we approach base camp, you'll gradually climb to higher levels. Within the Dingboche region, you'll be able to see buckwheat, barley and potato fields that are surrounded by stones walls. When you reach Lobuche and beyond, you can find the memorial park over Thukla pass. Thukla pass. Lobuche is located around 8.5 km to the southwest to EBC. Base Camp and provides a an unbeatable view from the summit. Prior to reaching EBC the hike will take you up to Gorak Shep. At Gorak Shep, you will stroll along The Khumbu Glacier until you reach Everest Base Camp. Everest Base Camp. We'll stay in the Everest Base Camp in the nature of the world's highest mountain. It is unlikely that you will ever be able to see Mt. Everest from this close proximity. It's likely to be the highest elevation you'll climb to in your lifetime. The next day, you'll trek through Kala Patthar to see the breathtaking sunset that kisses Mount. Everest. After admiring the breathtaking views for a while then you'll descend towards Namche Bazaar. While you're there you could spot wildlife such as pheasants or mountain goats, musk deer or snow leopards. 

At Namche Bazaar, we will return to Phakding. Since it's downhill so it shouldn't be difficult to walk. From Phakding then you follow through the Dudh Koshi River and undertake an uphill trek to Lukla. At this point we have reached the point where our Everest Base Camp package is close to being over. This is the last hike of this trek. The next day, you'll be returning to Kathmandu.

Best time to get to Everest Base Camp

Tourists, climbers who are professional, and the locals travel up to Base Camp throughout the year. There are however variations in the seasons. The most suitable time to hike is either in the spring or the Autumn. Typically, during these times the sky is clear from dusk until dawn. The clear, azure skies offer breathtaking images.

The spring season (Feb through June) is among the most ideal seasons when you can trek towards EBC. As the monsoon slows down the perfect trekking weather begins to emerge and the majority of trekkers make their way towards EBC in this period. The temperature can reach 20 degrees during the daytime , and then drops to 5 degrees in the evening. It is the ideal time to appreciate the view.

In the autumn (Sep-Nov) the temperatures get cooler and as the season progresses, snowfall begins to make EBC walking more difficult. Nights get colder. Nepalese are celebrating two of the most important festivals during this time of year: Dashain & Tihar. The celebrations also make hiking more enjoyable in this time of year.

Permits Required for EBC Trek

Naturally, in order to preserve the beauty of Mt. Everest and the other mountain ranges within the Himalayan range the Government of Nepal imposes permit entry costs. National parks across Nepal require permits, as does Sagarmatha National Park is no exception. Sagarmatha National Park is no any different.

To participate in this trek, the Everest Base Camp (EBC) Trek you will require permits to enter the trek according to the following guidelines:

Itinerary

Our tour guide will pick you up in a private vehicle. Firstly you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, the UNESCO world heritage site. Here, you can observe the typical wood-carved temples and buildings. These structures reflect the history and culture of Kathmandu city. Then you will be heading towards Swyambhunath- the monkey temple. Here, you can observe the religious harmony and tolerance between the Buddhist religion and the Hindu religion. Also, you can witness the panoramic view of Kathmandu city and the Himalaya ranges.
After that, you will be visiting the Pashupatinath Temple. It is one of the biggest pilgrimage sites for the Hindu's in south-east Asia. You can observe the ritual body cremating ceremony at the bank of the holy Bagmati river. and explore the surroundings. Then you will visit another UNESCO world heritage site i.e Boudhanath Stupa. It was built in 600A.D. and is the only one of a kind to reflect Buddhism in the world. Explore the surroundings of Boudhanath Stupa and enjoy the peace. After completing your sightseeing, you get back to the hotel and rest.

Your trek commences with a flight from Kathmandu to Tenzing-Hillary Airport. It is located in Lukla, Solukhumbu. The flight takes you over the Himalayas giving you a breathtaking panoramic view of the higher mountains, including the famous Mt. Everest. It stands there with the snow-covered peak in all its glory. On arrival at the airport, the Sherpa crew will unload our trekking equipment.
Then, our guide will brief you about the journey and introduce our porters. Then, we head towards Manjo. We begin our trek by descending towards the Dudh Koshi River and join the main trail to Namche Bazaar. After passing through the small village of Ghat (2,550 m), it is a short walk to Phakding.

The trail will start relatively easy but will gradually become harder. You will be able to get your first glimpse of Everest as you cross the mighty Dudh Koshi. As you proceed further, the trail will lead you to Monjo, where you could have a stopover for lunch.
The next part of the trail will be more difficult. The trail becomes vertical and the altitude will add on as we head towards Namche. If you experience the shortness of breath at this point, do not increase your pace. Rather, step up slowly and steadily. You will be making a pit stop at Namche Bazaar to stay the night there. The people around the Solukhumbu region conjugate in this area to do business. There are facilities like shops, restaurants, hotels, a bank, and internet services. Namche Bazaar offers an interesting insight into how people survive in this region.

Namche Bazaar is also known as the Sherpa Capital. You can use your time to acclimatize, relax and explore the surrounding places. Most of the trekkers prefer to get up before sunrise for the magnificent views of Mount Everest. You can also enjoy the view of Thamserku, Amadablam and other glorious peaks. As you observe the shadow of the Giant Himalayas being projected onto the clouds, you get lost in the beauty of Himalayas. 
As an energy supplier, try salt-butter tea and Champa. Champa is a kind of barley often consumed by the Sherpa in the region. This lively cultural market is worth a visit. It is usually full of traders desperately trying to sell their products.

After having breakfast, we will start trekking towards Pangboche. We walk along the old but still used, Everest Expedition Trail. The trail is a winding smooth path that offers a fantastic view of Thamserku (6,618 m), and Amadablam peak (6,856 m). The trail leads you upwards through a thick forest of rhododendron. There is a high probability of coinciding with the Himalayan flora & fauna.
On reaching Tengboche you will see the local monastery. Inside the monastery, there are incredible wall hangings and a 20-foot sculpture of Buddha. You can also see musical instruments. and robes of the Lamas. From Tengboche, the trail drops to Debuche as we cross the exciting suspension bridge. Crossing Imja Khola, we climb to Pangboche village.

Due to the climate at this altitude, the trail that leads to Lobuche is sparse. The trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. It passes by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. From this high vantage point, you will be able to get an unbelievable panoramic view of the Mt. Everest. Some breathing problems may arise today due to the altitude.

This will be another big and rewarding day of the trek. In the early morning, you will start climbing Mt. Kalapatthar, a small peak (by Himalayan standards) at 5555 m.
The ascent is demanding but worth the magnificent mountain panorama view of Mt. Everest. You can get a glimpse of the highest point on the planet at 8848 meters and other mountains. Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless other peaks are visible from Kalapatthar. We make a quick descent to Gorak Shep and then trek down to Pheriche village.

After Breakfast, you will continue the trek through the Chumoa village. It's a beautiful village to stop for lunch. After lunch, you will walk along the riverside to Phakding and then head towards Lukla. After a few hours of walking, you will reach Lukla. You will visit two ancient cities near Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. In Patan, you will be visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites i.e. Krishna Temple and Patan Durbar Square. Later on, visit the Patan Museum, where you can learn more about the history of Patan and the kings who reigned here. You can also visit the Golden Temple, a major attraction for both Hindu and Buddhist people.
In Bhaktapur, you will be amazed by the architecture of the city. Until today the city has been able to be kept intact in its old form. You can observe the old wood carved buildings all around Bhaktapur. Finally, you will visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Namche Bazaar offers an interesting insight into how people survive in this region.

Namche Bazaar is also known as the Sherpa Capital. You can use your time to acclimatize, relax and explore the surrounding places. Most of the trekkers prefer to get up before sunrise for the magnificent views of Mount Everest. You can also enjoy the view of Thamserku, Amadablam and other glorious peaks. As you observe the shadow of the Giant Himalayas being projected onto the clouds, you get lost in the beauty of Himalayas. 
As an energy supplier, try salt-butter tea and Champa. Champa is a kind of barley often consumed by the Sherpa in the region. This lively cultural market is worth a visit. It is usually full of traders desperately trying to sell their products.

After having breakfast, we will start trekking towards Pangboche. We walk along the old but still used, Everest Expedition Trail. The trail is a winding smooth path that offers a fantastic view of Thamserku (6,618 m), and Amadablam peak (6,856 m). The trail leads you upwards through a thick forest of rhododendron. There is a high probability of coinciding with the Himalayan flora & fauna.
On reaching Tengboche you will see the local monastery. Inside the monastery, there are incredible wall hangings and a 20-foot sculpture of Buddha. You can also see musical instruments. and robes of the Lamas. From Tengboche, the trail drops to Debuche as we cross the exciting suspension bridge. Crossing Imja Khola, we climb to Pangboche village.

Early morning, we start our trek to the quaint village of Dingboche. The village offers exquisite views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Amadablam. Meanwhile, during the trek, we will walk slowly to avoid altitude sickness.

We will spend a day here to acclimatize and adjust to the thinner air pressure. We will have a trip to Chhukung valley, via the Imja Khola valley. From Chhukung valley, we get a marvelous view of the surrounding mountains. In the evening, we return to Dingboche.

Due to the climate at this altitude, the trail that leads to Lobuche is sparse. The trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. It passes by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. From this high vantage point, you will be able to get an unbelievable panoramic view of the Mt. Everest. Some breathing problems may arise today due to the altitude.

In the early morning, you will continue your trek to Everest Base Camp at 5365 m. This is the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. The view of the Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp is spectacular. After spending some time at Everest Base Camp, we return to Gorak Shep for the night.

This will be another big and rewarding day of the trek. In the early morning, you will start climbing Mt. Kalapatthar, a small peak (by Himalayan standards) at 5555 m.
The ascent is demanding but worth the magnificent mountain panorama view of Mt. Everest. You can get a glimpse of the highest point on the planet at 8848 meters and other mountains. Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless other peaks are visible from Kalapatthar. We make a quick descent to Gorak Shep and then trek down to Pheriche village.

From Pheriche, you leave the mountains behind us. You descent through the Tengboche Monastery, located at an elevation of 3,860 m. Then, you return towards the town of Namche Bazaar. We will arrive back in Namche Bazaar in the afternoon.

After Breakfast, you will continue the trek through the Chumoa village. It's a beautiful village to stop for lunch. After lunch, you will walk along the riverside to Phakding and then head towards Lukla. After a few hours of walking, you will reach Lukla. In Lukla, you can relax and dip yourself into the local culture and lifestyle. On reaching Lukla, we shall reflect on the time spent as a group. We will celebrate the personal achievements of all those who took part in the trek.

Enjoy a final glimpse of the mountains as you set off to the airport. The flight to Kathmandu leaves before 10:00 am. But it might differ according to weather conditions. On arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel.

You will visit two ancient cities near Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. In Patan, you will be visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites i.e. Krishna Temple and Patan Durbar Square. Later on, visit the Patan Museum, where you can learn more about the history of Patan and the kings who reigned here. You can also visit the Golden Temple, a major attraction for both Hindu and Buddhist people.
In Bhaktapur, you will be amazed by the architecture of the city. Until today the city has been able to be kept intact in its old form. You can observe the old wood carved buildings all around Bhaktapur. Finally, you will visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Explore the surroundings of Nyatapola Temple, one of the biggest temples in Nepal. After completing your sight seen get back to Kathmandu and check-in hotel and have rest.

Your trip will come to an end today. First, you will be advised and assisted with your onward travel arrangements. Then, we shall transfer you to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport. You will reach the airport 3 hours before your flight schedule.
