Tour Details

Located at the lap of Lamjung Himal in northern Nepal, Ghalegaun is a fascinating village gifted by beautiful landscape and is home to world-famous Gurkha soldiers. The Ghalegaun is surrounded by hills and Himalayan ranges including Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, Annapurna II, Annapurna IV, Bouddha Himal, Himalchuli, and many others.

Ghalegaun and Ghanpokhara are both typical Gurung villages and traditional customs are still followed during events such as births, deaths, weddings, and other important times. Even now, the villagers wear traditional dress and perform old cultural dances like the Jhyaure, Serka, Dohori, Ghantu, Krishna Charitra, and Jhakri on various occasions accompanied by different musical instruments.

Itinerary

Day 1 Kathmandu to Khudi, driving duration: 7-8 hours

In the morning, our guide will pick you up in our private vehicle and travel to Besisahar along the highway following the Trisuli River. Crossing the Trisuli River in Muglin, we follow the Marshyangdi River passing through several Gurung and Magar villages to reach Besisahar, the district headquarter of Lamjung. After another one-hour drive, we reach the Khudi.
Accommodation: Overnight in available local lodge.

Day 2Khudi to Ghalegaon (1540 m), hiking duration: 4-5 hours

We begin our trek as we walk toward the northwest of Khudi along the bank of the river. As we walk further, the trail passes through the farmlands, Gurung and Magar villages, forest and many waterfalls along the way. After a short climb up, you will be welcomed by the traditional houses built by the Gurung community of Ghalegaun village. We visit the long-established Gale and Gurung villages followed by the famous viewpoint from where various stunning mountain views can be witnessed. some views you can see during a clear day from this point include the LamjungHimal range, the Annapurna range, and the Manaslu mountain range.

Day 3Ghalegaun to Ghan Pohkara (1780 m), hiking duration: 1 hour

Today, we have a leisure day. After breakfast, we explore Ghana Pokhara, which is a large Gurung village. surrounding this village, we will have the privilege of the scenic beauty of the river valley. Especially during the sunset, the valley offers magnificent views of the Mt. Annapurna and Manaslu ranges.
Accommodation: Overnight in available local lodge.

Day 4Ghan Pokhara to Khudi(790 m), hiking duration: 3-4 hours

Early in the morning, we leave GhanPokhara and head towards our next destination, Khudi village. Along with today’s trail, we will visit a beautiful waterfall and a cave. Upon reaching Khudi you can stroll around and observe the beauty of Khudi.
Accommodation: Overnight in available local lodge.

Day 5Khudi to Kathmandu, driving duration: 7-8 hours

You will slowly start your drive on a private vehicle from Khudi towards Kathmandu. On the way, you can enjoy the scenic beauty and come to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu you will be transferred to Hotel in Thamel and if time permits you can stroll around Thamel city and enjoy the street view of the tourist hub.
Accommodation: Overnight in Yatri Suites and Spa or similar.
