Nepal - Mardi Himal Trek (13 days)

Mardi Himal trekking, a destination located in the famous Annapurna region, is positioned at the base of the Mardi Himal and Fishtail mountain. The path goes along small winding paths, through dense rhododendron forests until you climb out of the forest at an elevation of around 3,300 meters. The landscape changes quite abruptly into a rugged high mountain landscape, with amazing views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchre, Annapurna South and Dhaulagiri.


This program allows you to experience the same. while trekking to Mardi, you will walk through prosperous villages, remote settlements with the view of magnificent Annapurna, Machhapuchre (Fishtail), Dhaulagiri and their ranges and this trek is perfectly suitable for the trekkers who like to avoid the crowd and loves to trek in isolation. Indulge yourself in the beauty of Mardi Himal and this trekking route.

This itinerary is a guideline only and we will follow the itinerary as far as possible but due to weather conditions, health conditions, natural disasters and other unfavorable phenomenon your guide might decide to amend or cancel the itinerary for your own safety. Your guide will help you at any time with providing information regarding conditions and safety during the treks.

Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu airport, our representative will meet, greet and welcome you and transfer you to your confirmed hotel. You can rest relax and enjoy your time in the hotel or you can stroll around the city. Overnight accommodation in a hotel.

Our tour guide will come to pick you up along with the private vehicle. Firstly you will be visiting the UNESCO world heritage site Kathmandu Durbar Square where you can observe the typical wood carved temples and buildings reflecting the ancient Kathmandu city and then you will be heading towards Swyambhunath- the monkey temple where you can observe the religious harmony and tolerance between the Buddhist religion and Hindu religion along with that enjoy the panoramic view of Kathmandu city and the Himalaya ranges from here. After that you will be visiting the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the biggest pilgrimage site for the Hindu religion people in south-east Asia, explore the surroundings and you can observe the ritual body cremating ceremony process of the Hindu people at the bank of holy Bagmati river and then visit another pilgrimage site nearby to the Pashupatinath Temple known as Guweyswori Temple, explore the surroundings and then you will go to visit the another UNESCO world heritage site Boudhanath Stupa. It was built in 600A.D. and is the only one of a kind of stupa reflecting Buddhism in the world. Explore the surroundings of Boudhanath Stupa and after completing your sight seen get back to the hotel and rest. Overnight in a hotel.

Today, we will drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. On the way, you can enjoy the greenery around and beautiful hills. What attracts most visitors to Pokhara is the richness of the valley with its pure and natural beauty. Just imagine the joy of observing the majestic Himalayas, reflecting its shadow on Fewa Lake and the cleanness of Pokhara city. The Pokhara valley is equally outstanding, giving as they do elevated closeups to the snowy peaks. Pokhara is famous for sightseeing, mountain views, and many adventurous outdoor activities.we will visit Davi's Waterfall, Ghupteswor Mahadev, International Mountain Museum, which are the major attraction for sightseeing in Pokhara. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and your trekking program to Mardi Himal begins. You will enjoy a short drive to Kande through the countryside environment of Nepal. Kande is on the hilltop village located near to the touristic city, Pokhara. From Kande, you can see the beautiful view of the Himalayas in clear weather. Now, you will start walking to reach today's destination, Pothana. You will be walking through the beautiful villages. Once you reach Pothana, check-in to the lodge. Overnight in local lodge.

You will walk through the forest of red sandalwoods and rhododendrons and some pasture lands. Today, you have to walk through some flat land which is followed by a gentle climb up and descend down as commencement of Mardi Himal Trek. On the way, you also have to walk through the dense forest. If the weather is clear, you will see the panoramic view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu and some other ranges. Overnight in local lodge.

Today, the trail gradually climbs through the rhododendron forest following the ridge. You can enjoy a much closer view of Mt Fishtail and Mardi Himal. You find yourself closer to clear blue sky with a view of layers of Himalayan foothills and sweeping valley towards the south. There are couples of local lodges in the Low camp for overnight stay. Overnight in local lodge.

The trail further climbs along the ridge towards Mardi Himal and Mt Fishtail. Now, you will leave the tree line and arrive in the shrubby alpine zone. Snowcapped peaks of Annapurna South, Huinchuli and Fishtail loom in a distance above the deep valley on either side. High camp is a small pasture after the climb. Here, you find yourself above the clouds and closer to snowcapped peaks. Overnight in local lodge.

Today, the trekking is more difficult than other days with a steep climb and long walk. The trail becomes more vertical at some points with uneven and steep rocky steps. The first steep climb will take about 2 hrs to the ridge top which is marked as MBC (Mardi Himal Base Camp). However, the real base camp will take about another 2 hrs along the ridge. The view is amazing all along the ridge. While Mardi Himal and Mt Fishtail appear right above you, view of Annapurna I, Gangapurna and Annapurna III also appears at a distance. Overnight in local lodge.

Today, you will return down to Forest Camp. Even though the scenery is stationary, season and sunlight make it different and interesting. You will spend some time in the Basecamp and enjoy watching the change that the sunrays bring to the place and surrounding areas. You will commence walking down to a forest camp after having breakfast. On reaching forest camp, you can spend your time resting or explore the surrounding areas of Forest Camp. Overnight in local lodge.

You will have your breakfast and commence climbing down steeply through rhododendron and Maple forest to the permanent settlements closer to valley basin to Lawang village. Lwang is a Gurung and Ghale village with rich culture and happy people. The village is the best place to watch Nepalese countryside lifestyle and enjoy organic food. The village farmers also grow organic tea in their meadow. The waterfall in the outskirt of the village offers one of the most exciting canyoning adventures. You will enjoy the Organic lunch served by the local people in Lwang village. After lunch, you will rest for some time and walk down to the Mardi River basin. Here, you will catch the vehicle and drive back to Pokhara. Check-in to the Hotel. 

You will drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu. On the way, you can see the beautiful hills and slopes. Later, you can stroll through the streets of Thamel for shopping. you can also buy souvenirs for your friends and family. overnight accommodation in a hotel.

Today, our guide will receive you and then drive you to Patan. You’ll be driven to one of the ancient cities inside Kathmandu valley i.e. Patan Durbar Square for sightseeing. In Patan, you will be visiting another UNESCO World Heritage sites: Krishna Temple and Patan Durbar Square. Later on, visit the Patan Museum, where you can learn more about the history of Patan and the kings who reigned here. Later, visit the Golden Temple, a major attraction for the both Hindu and Buddhist people, and Banglamukhi Temple. Then after we will be visiting Bhaktapur, you will be amazed by the architecture, as until today the city has been able to be kept intact in its old form. You can observe the old wood carved buildings all around Bhaktapur and then you will visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Explore the surroundings and afterward visit the Nyatapola Temple, one of the biggest temple in Nepal. You will be taught to design your own pot and once you have your basic shape hammered out, you can even choose to adorn your creation with beautiful patterns and inscriptions. Overnight accommodation at the hotel.

Your trip will come to an end today after breakfast. You will be advised and assisted with your onward travel arrangements and transfer to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport by our private van around 3 hours before your flight schedule and flight back to your home/other travel destination. Have a safe journey onwards.
