The Annapurna Circuit Trek via Tilicho Lake starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani. The trek will lead you through the villages Chame, Pisang, Manang, Khangsar Village, Tilicho Base Camp, Yak Kharka, Thorung Phedi, Muktinath, and Jomsom. The Annapurna Circuit trek via Tilicho Lake ends with a short flight to Pokhara before returning to Kathmandu. The trek takes you to the amazing Tilicho Lake and through the beautiful Thorung La pass.

Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrival In Kathmandu (1400 m)

Welcome to Kathmandu. Upon your arrival, an Asian Heritage Treks & Travel representative welcomes you at the Airport. Then, you will be transferred to the hotel. On the way to the hotel, you will pass by the open cremation Place (Pashupatinath temple), Royal Palace Museum i.e. Narayanhity, and Garden Of Dream. Your hotel will be located downtown at Touristic Hub. Our representative shall facilitate you and discuss your travel itinerary. There will be enough time to stroll through the street of Thamel.

DAY 2 Drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani (1,960m) (Driving Duration 8/9 hours)

Early in the morning, you will leave for Dharapani by public sharing vehicle. It takes about nine hours to get to Dharapani through the serpentine roads on the hill. There are several small towns among the green hills and beautiful views of Mount Annapurna II, Mount Machhapuchhre, and Mount Lamjung.

DAY 3 Dharapani to Chame (2,710m/8,891ft), (Hiking Duration 5/6-hours)

After having your breakfast, you will continue walking to reach your final destination of the day, Chame, which is seen as the headquarters of the Manang district. From Chame, you can witness the fine views of the breathtaking views of Lamjung Himal (6,983 m), Annapurna II (7,937 m), and Annapurna IV (7,525 m). We also come across a small hot spring, which is a place to relax for a while.

DAY 4 Chame To Upper Pisang (3300 m), (Hiking Duration: 6/7 Hours)

Today, you will walk to Upper Pisang. The trek begins through the forest areas in a steep, narrow valley. You will cross the river, walk for some time, and then cross another bridge at 3040m. From here, you can see the towering Paungda Danda rock face. Afterward, the trail leads upward to Upper Pisang, where you will stay for the night. The path then leads through the peaceful forest to the upper Manang Valley. Upon ascending further, we will reach Upper Pisang, a large and sprawling village. This village has many lodges that offer delicious meals that challenge your taste buds.

DAY 5Upper Pisang to Manang (3,500m) (4-5-hour hike)

Today, you will walk through the upper part of the Manang district, which is the rain shadow area shaded by the Annapurna Range. The people of this region are dependent on animal husbandry and agricultural farming. Leaving the Upper Pisang, their alternate trails north and south of the Marsayangdi River meet up again at Mungji. The southern route by the Hongde airstrip (at 3,325 m) involves less climbing than the northern route via Ghyaru, though there are better views on the trail that follows the northern bank of the river. From Mungji, the trail continues past the picturesque but partially hidden village of Braga (at 3,475 m) to nearby Manang.

DAY 6 Acclimatization and Rest Day in Manang

Today is your acclimatization day in Manang. You can visit the village and enjoy viewing the wonderful sights of the village. Make sure to give your body some rest and recharge for the upcoming trekking days. We can visit the monasteries that are dotted around the area. Or, we can simply enjoy the spectacular views of the Himalayas in the surroundings. It is highly recommended that you pay attention to the advice of the Himalayan Rescue Association during your stay in Manang.

DAY 7 Manang to Khangsar Village (3,756 m) (4-hour hike)

After having breakfast, you will start walking to reach Khangsar. Khangsar is a village development committee in Manang District. Khangsar village is located in north-central Nepal at 3,756 m above sea level. If the weather is clear, you can see the wonderful views of the mountains located in the area.

DAY 8Khangsar Village To Tilicho Base Camp (4200 m), (Hiking Duration: 5 Hours )

After breakfast, you will head towards the Tilicho Base Camp, from where you will start ascending to the world’s highest lake; Tilicho. The beautiful lake is located at an altitude of 4919 m above sea level. On the way, you can see Blue sheep, Yaks, and other Alpine Faunas grazing in the meadow. You can also enjoy your walking as you will see mountains like Gangapurna, Annapurna 3, etc. from your walking trail.

DAY 9Tilicho Base Camp To Tilicho Lake (4919 m) And Back Down To Tilicho Base Camp, ( Hiking Duration 7-8 Hours )

Today, you will have your breakfast a bit earlier than other days and start walking to avoid the wind. From Base camp to Tilicho Lake takes about 3 to 4 hours. In the afternoon and early morning, before the sun, the temperature of Tilicho Lake remains quiet. After we spend some time around Tilicho Lake we will return via the same way back to Base Camp as there are no accommodation facilities at the Tilicho Lake area.

DAY 10 Tilicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka (4,000 m), (Hiking duration: 7 hours)

After having breakfast at the Base Camp, you will return following an unmarked trail that will lead you around and down to cross the river via an old log bridge between Gumsang and Yak Kharka. From the river, you will ascend to reach Yak Kharka, where you will spend the night.

DAY 11 Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (Base Camp) (4,450 m) or High Camp (4,833m) (Hiking duration 5 hours)

After having your breakfast, you will start your day. There are two options for today’s trekking. You can either have a pretty short day and only walk as far as Thorong Phedi (4,450m) or head up to the High Camp (4,880m). The issue isn’t the distance between the two it’s only about 1.5 hours of walking. You would be going above the recommended 500 meters a day elevation gain, and regardless of the option you choose, it will be the highest you will sleep on the Annapurna Circuit.

DAY 12 Trek to Muktinath (3,800m) via Thorong La Pass (5,416m) (Hiking duration 8 Hours)

After enjoying your breakfast, you’ll commence the ascent towards the Thorong La pass. Today marks a significant milestone as you attempt to cross the Thorang-La Pass at an impressive altitude of 5,416 meters, making it one of the world’s highest navigable passes. The journey to cross the Thorong La Pass typically takes around four hours, culminating in reaching the summit, where you’ll be greeted by breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

Following the pass crossing, a further five-hour trek will lead you to the revered town of Muktinath. Nestled in the Muktinath Valley, this sacred site holds deep significance for both Hindus and Buddhists. Referred to as Mukti Kshetra by Hindus, meaning “place of salvation,” the main temple has origins in the Sri Vaishnava tradition and is revered by Buddhists as well. Upon arrival, explore the revered Shree Muktinath Temple and partake in the sacred ritual of bathing under the 108 water springs and two holy Kunda. Adjacent to the temple lays the Jwala Mai Temple, featuring a spring and an eternal flame fuelled by natural underground gas a captivating sight to behold.

DAY 13 Drive from Muktinath to Pokhara (8-hour drive)

After breakfast, you will leave for Pokhara by public sharing vehicle. It takes about eight hours to get to Pokhara through the serpentine roads on the hill. On the way, you can see the greenery of Nepal. The route follows the Kali Gandaki River, which is also one of the fastest-flowing rivers in Nepal. On the way, you can see the greenery of Nepal. You will get the opportunity to have mind-blowing views of different places, such as Kagbeni, Jomsom, Marpha, Lete, Ghasa, Rupse waterfall, which is a 300-meter-high waterfall and the most popular place, and many more.

DAY 14Drive Back To Kathmandu, (Driving Duration: 6-7 Hours)

After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive back to Kathmandu; which is about 210 kilometres far away from Pokhara. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, you will be then transferred to your respective hotel and have rest.  In the evening, you can stroll around the streets of Thamel and shop for souvenirs for friends and family. Or you can rest at the hotel.

DAY 15Departure

Today is the last day of your Nepal trip. After having your breakfast, you will pack your luggage, get fresh, and check out from the hotel.
