Day 1Flight to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu and drive to Bardiya (1,441m/4,727ft)

Flying from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, the gateway to Bardiya, provides breathtaking aerial views of Nepal’s rugged terrain, snow-capped mountains, and lush green valleys. Nepalgunj is located in southwestern Nepal, near the Indian border, and serves as the main entry point for visitors to Bardiya.

Once you arrive in Nepalgunj, you will drive to Bardiya National Park. We will go on a sunset tour, where you will gain a better understanding and appreciation for the local Tharu culture and way of life through a Tharu village and culture tour.

The Tharu have a rich and distinct culture. It was shaped by living in Nepal’s Terai region for so many years. The Tharu village and culture tour takes you through the heart of a Tharu community, allowing you to observe the people’s daily lives as well as their traditional customs and practices. This immersive experience will provide a fascinating glimpse into their way of life, leaving you with a greater appreciation for their customs and traditions.

You’ll also be able to learn about their local handicrafts, such as bamboo basket weaving, and participate in cultural activities like the traditional Tharu dance. The sunset tour offers an unforgettable opportunity to witness the area’s breathtaking natural beauty as the sun sets over Tharu village and its surrounding landscape.

Day 2Jungle Safari

Today’s itinerary promises a thrilling adventure as you discover the region’s vast natural wonders. We will start our day with an exhilarating Jeep Safari, where you will be able to traverse the rugged terrain of Bardiya while admiring the breathtaking panoramic views that surround you. This morning activity will undoubtedly give you an adrenaline rush while also providing a unique perspective on the wilderness that surrounds us.

After the Jeep Safari, we will go on a jungle hike. This experience will allow you to connect more intimately with nature and enjoy the beauty of the jungle. You will be able to see the region’s diverse wildlife, including various bird, reptile, and mammal species that call this jungle home. Throughout the walk, our knowledgeable guide will provide you with valuable information about the flora and fauna you encounter.

In addition to jungle walking, we will visit the elephant breeding center, where you will be able to see these majestic animals up close. The center acts as a safe haven for endangered elephants and works tirelessly to protect and preserve them. You will see firsthand the incredible efforts being made to save these gentle giants, and our guide will educate you on the importance of elephant conservation.

Day 3Bird-watching, Drive to Nepalgunj and Flight to Kathmandu (1,400m/4,593ft)

Bird-watching in Bardiya National Park is a must-do activity for any nature enthusiast. The park is home to over 400 species of birds, making it a paradise for bird watchers. Whether you are an experienced birder or a beginner, the park’s diverse habitats, including riverine forests, grasslands, and wetlands, provide an ideal environment for observing birds in their natural habitat.

During the bird-watching excursion, an experienced guide will accompany you and help you spot and identify different bird species. Some of the commonly sighted birds in the park include the peafowl, kingfisher, egret, flycatcher, and stunningly colorful jungle fowl.

After the bird-watching excursion, we will return to Nepalgunj, where you will board your flight to Kathmandu. The flight provides a stunning view of the Himalayan mountain range, including the majestic Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak.
