Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by our representative and the bustling atmosphere of Nepal’s capital city. The vibrant streets, traditional architecture, and aromatic food stalls will immerse you in the local culture right from the start. Take some time to settle into your accommodations and perhaps venture out to explore the nearby areas, savoring the sights and sounds of this vibrant city.

Day 2Visit Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square

Your day of this 15-Day Buddhist Study Trip begins with a visit to Swayambhunath, a renowned Buddhist stupa situated atop a hill. As you ascend the steps, you’ll be greeted by the watchful eyes of the Buddha, surrounded by fluttering prayer flags and mischievous monkeys. From the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the city below.
In the afternoon, you’ll explore Kathmandu Durbar Square, a historic complex filled with ancient temples, royal palaces, and courtyards. Marvel at the intricate wood carvings, pagoda-style architecture, and the towering figure of Kala Bhairava, a fearsome deity. The square reflects the rich history and artistic heritage of Nepal’s ancient kings.

Day 3Visit Patan including Golden Temple & Ashoka Stupa

Continuing on this Buddhist Study Trip, you’ll venture to the neighboring city of Patan, also known as Lalitpur, which translates to “City of Beauty.” Patan is famous for its well-preserved Newar architecture and a myriad of temples and palaces. You’ll visit the Golden Temple, a sacred monastery adorned with golden statues and intricate metalwork. Inside, you can witness Buddhist rituals and soak in the serene ambiance.

Day 7Flight to Kathmandu and Visit to Chabahil Stupa and Boudha Orientation

After bidding farewell to Lumbini, you’ll catch a flight back to Kathmandu. Once you’ve settled in, you’ll visit Chabahil Stupa, a revered Buddhist stupa located in the northeastern part of the city. Observe devotees offering prayers and spinning prayer wheels as you soak in the spiritual atmosphere.
In the afternoon, you’ll have an orientation in Boudha, a vibrant neighborhood in Kathmandu famous for its majestic Boudhanath Stupa. This massive white dome, adorned with colorful prayer flags, is one of the largest stupas in the world and holds immense religious significance for Buddhists.

Day 12 Visit Bhaktapur

Your exploration continues as you visit the ancient city of Bhaktapur, renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture. As you wander through the narrow alleys, you’ll encounter traditional Newari houses, intricately carved wooden windows, and exquisite stone temples. Bhaktapur Durbar Square, with its iconic 55-window palace and Nyatapola Temple, will transport you back in time, offering a glimpse into the ancient Malla dynasty.

Day 13Return to Boudha

Day 14Experience Boudha or Enjoy a Free Day

As your journey nears its end, you have the flexibility to choose how to spend this day. This last day of the 15-Day Buddhist Study Trip is a free day for you to explore Kathmandu at your leisure. You can have the option to continue exploring Boudha, revisit favorite spots, or venture into Kathmandu to explore areas you may have missed earlier. Perhaps you can explore the vibrant streets of Thamel for some shopping and local cuisine, or visit one of the many art galleries or museums in the city.

 

Optional activities you can do in your free day:
  • Everest Mountain flight (40–60 minutes).
  • Nepali food cooking workshop (approx. 3 hours).
  • Momo cooking workshop (approx. 3 hours).
  • Handicraft tour (approx. 6 hours).

Day 15Departure

On the last day of the 15-Day Buddhist Study trip, it’s time to say goodbye to Nepal. Your Nepal trip will come to an end today. You will be advised and assisted with your onward travel arrangements and transfer to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport by our private vehicle around 3 hours before your flight schedule and flight back to your home or other travel destination.
