Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal! An Asian Heritage Treks & Travel representative will greet you at the airport with a nameplate bearing your name. After your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. On the way from the airport to the hotel, you will pass by the Pashupatinath Temple, the Royal Palace Museum (Narayanhity), and the Garden of Dreams, eventually reaching Thamel, the downtown tourist hub.
Your hotel will be centrally located in this vibrant area. Our representative will assist you and discuss your travel itinerary. There will also be enough time to stroll through the streets of Thamel.

You will start the Everest Basecamp with Gokyo and Tibet Tour with a flight from TIA to Lukla Airport in Solukhumbu. This flight offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas, including the famous Mt. Everest, with its snow-covered peak. As the flight continues, you will feel Mt. Everest drawing closer. Upon landing, the altitude and stunning surroundings will greet you.
From Lukla, your trek begins alongside the Dudh Koshi (Milk River), which meanders into the horizon. You will trek through rhododendron forests, enjoying the aromatic scent of evergreen oak. The sight of snowy peaks signals that the trek will become more challenging, marking the start of an adventure that will test your mental and physical strength.

The trail begins with a manageable start, gradually becoming more challenging as you progress. As you cross the formidable Dudh Koshi River, you catch your first glimpse of Everest. Continuing on, you’ll reach Monjo, where you’ll take a lunch break. The terrain becomes more intense with steep inclines and increasing altitude as you make your way to Namche, which may induce breathlessness. Maintaining a steady pace is essential.
Overnight, you’ll stay in Namche Bazaar, a bustling hub where the inhabitants of Solukhumbu gather for trade. Here, you’ll find shops, eateries, hotels, a bank, and internet services, allowing you to stay connected with loved ones. Namche Bazaar offers a fascinating glimpse into regional survival techniques.

On the fourth day of the Everest Basecamp with Gokyo and Tibet Tour, you’ll have the opportunity to acclimatize, relax, and explore the surrounding area. Many trekkers choose to wake up before sunrise to witness the breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and other majestic peaks from Sagarmatha National Park. Observing the mountains’ shadows projected onto the clouds above allows for a true appreciation of their grandeur.
To replenish your energy, be sure to try the local specialties such as salt-butter tea and Champa, a type of barley often consumed by the Sherpa in the region. Additionally, the vibrant Saturday market offers a lively cultural experience, with traders eager to sell their products.

After breakfast, we embark on our trek towards Tengboche along the timeless Everest Expedition Trail. This winding, well-trodden path offers breathtaking vistas of Mount Everest (8,848 m), Thamserku (6,618 m), and the Ama Dablam peak (6,856 m), nestled on Everest’s eastern flank. As we ascend through a dense rhododendron forest, keep an eye out for Himalayan wildlife such as musk deer, Himalayan Tahr, pheasants, and monkeys.
Tengboche is renowned for its Buddhist Monastery, where you can participate in daily pujas and enjoy the scenic viewpoint. This monastery is the largest and most vibrant in the Khumbu region, nurturing many young Buddhist monks. From its courtyard, you can witness spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Notably, the Mani Rimdu, a Sherpa dance-drama festival, takes place during the full moon in November-December. This ritual honors Phakpa Chenrezig, the god of Compassion, with intricate dances meant to benefit all beings, attracting a sizable crowd.

Today, we embark on our journey towards Dingboche, situated at an elevation of 4,410 m. This part of the trek presents a significant challenge due to the altitude and the rocky terrain. Along the way, we traverse through forests adorned with a variety of lush trees, including birch, conifers, and rhododendron, and encounter numerous yaks.
The picturesque trail descends to Deboche, where we cross a suspension bridge over the rushing waters of the Imja River before ascending to Dingboche. Along the route, we come across a snow-white stupa adorned with beautiful all-seeing eyes, reflecting the majestic Ama Dablam mountain—a perfect spot for a memorable photograph!
Continuing our journey, the trail gently ascends to the village of Pangboche (3,860 m), where we ascend above the tree line. Passing through numerous grazing lands populated by yaks, we finally arrive at Dingboche Valley.

After breakfast, you’ll start your trek and be immediately greeted by breathtaking mountain scenery beyond your expectations. You’ll climb up Chhukhung Ri (5,550 m), where the effort will be more than worth it. From the summit, you’ll have access to stunning peaks with awe-inspiring views of Cho Oyu (8,201 m), Pumori (7,161 m), the Lhotse Wall (8,400 m), Lhotse (8,500 m), Ama Dablam (6,856 m), Makalu (8,481 m), and Baruntse (7,129 m). These spectacular sights will amaze you and prepare you for the journey ahead.

The eighth day of the Everest Basecamp with Gokyo and Tibet Tour is a rest day. Take this opportunity to explore the nearby areas, enjoy the natural beauty of Chhukung, and acclimate to the surroundings.

After breakfast, get ready to head towards Lobuche. Today’s trail is longer than the previous days, so prepare for an extended walk. We will first pass Kongma La (5400 m), then start our ascent up the Niyang Khola Valley. A long descent brings us to the edge of the famous Khumbu Glacier, where the walk gradually becomes easier as we cross it. Eventually, you will reach Lobuche, concluding today’s trek.

After breakfast, we embark on a rocky trail to Gorekshep, offering breathtaking vistas of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, and glimpses of the Khumbu Glacier. After a few hours, we reach Gorekshep, nestled beneath Kalapatthar, bringing you closer to realizing your dream of visiting the base camp of the world’s highest peak. A three-hour walk along the Khumbu glacier’s ridge reveals stunning glacier and mountain views.
Buddhist prayer flags adorn the base camp, symbolizing its spiritual significance. During the climbing season, colorful tents dot the landscape, resembling a blossoming garden. After exploring the area, we retreat to the lodge for leisure, where you can read, listen to music, or engage in lively conversations with fellow trekkers. Enjoy this remarkable journey to Everest Base Camp, a dream come true.

Today, we will begin our hike early, without breakfast, for a two-hour trek to Kalapatthar. This vantage point offers the best views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mera Peak, and many more. After taking in the views, we will return to Gorakshep, passing by the ice lakes of Pumori and Everest, where we will have breakfast.
Next, we will trek down to Dzongla via a winding trail, which takes about 4-5 hours. Dzongla is a small settlement located below the Cho La Pass. Along the way, you’ll also enjoy the scenic views of Cho La Lake.

Our journey took us to the Cho La Pass (5,368 m), which involves a steep and challenging climb over a rocky ridge. Reaching the top of the pass, you will feel incredibly fortunate as you take in the stunning views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Taboche, Baruntse, and the nearby Cholatse. After crossing the Cho La Pass, we hiked over a glacier, traversing snow and ice for about an hour. Following lunch, we rested for a while before descending for about three hours along a rocky path to Dragnag.

After breakfast, we begin our trek with a 1.5-hour uphill walk, followed by an easier stretch. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Gokyo Lake and its surroundings. After some rest at the lodge in Gokyo, take a short climb to the ridge to explore the amazing view of the glacier and its small glacier lakes. Stay overnight at Gokyo Lodge.

On the fourteenth day of the Everest Base Camp with Gokyo and Tibet Tour, you will enjoy the best day on the entire trail. Although it is called the rest day, you will enjoy the surroundings. You can hike to GokyoRi, located at a 5,360-meter-high hill on the north side of the Dudh Pokhari, which takes around 2 to 3 hours. From the summit, you can get an overview of Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse, Taboche, and the Ngozumpa Glacier. Hiking up the Gokyo Valley and passing two or three more glacial lakes towards Cho Oyu can be another option to spend the day.

Today, we begin early, embarking on the upper trail west of Gokyo Lake towards Renjo La Pass (5,415 m). After climbing a steep sandy ridge for about 3 hours, we’ll reach the summit of Renjo La, where you’ll be treated to fabulous views of peaks above 7000 m and 8000 m, including Everest, Lhotse, Chalotse, and Taboche.
Continuing along the pass, we’ll traverse a pathway of stone stairs that leads to the southern bank of a small serene lake, The Angladumba Tsho. After another 4-hour walk, we’ll arrive at Lungden (4,380 m).

After breakfast, we embark on our journey to Thame, renowned for its traditional village setting characterized by slate-roofed houses of the Sherpa community. The short walk to Thame allows ample time to explore the village, including its monastery, and to immerse ourselves in the serene surroundings inhabited by the Sherpas. Thame holds significance as the largest village in the valley and is renowned as the birthplace of Tenzing Norgay, the first Sherpa to climb Mount Everest alongside Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953. Additionally, Apa Sherpa, who holds the record for the most ascents of Mount Everest (21), was also born here. Historically, Thame Valley has been integral to the “Salt Route” from Tibet.

Today, after breakfast, your day starts with a walk downhill through the rhododendron forest. Once you get to the bottom of the hill, cross the suspension bridge and climb steeply through the pine and Juniper forest to Khumjung. After resting sometimes, you can explore the Khumjung village. After having lunch, continue your walk to the Namche Bazaar.

After having breakfast in a teahouse at Namche Bazaar, we will begin our trek to Lukla. Lunch will be served along the way. After we reach Lukla, we will have time to get refreshed and relax. You can spend time remembering the journey that you have covered over the past few days and sharing your experience with other trekkers.

After breakfast, prepare to fly back to Kathmandu, with flights typically departing before 10:00 a.m., concluding your time in the Everest Region. Please note that flight times may vary depending on weather conditions. Upon landing at Kathmandu Airport, our representative will be waiting to greet you and transfer you to your hotel in a private vehicle.

Today you will have a rest day in Kathmandu. You will have a tour briefing about your Tibet tour with the official representatives. After that, you will be provided with all the necessary documents, like air tickets, visas, and permits. You can enjoy your day in your own way.

After having breakfast, our office representative will come to receive you at the hotel and transfer you to the airport according to your flight time. Ensure to get a seat on the right-hand side of the plane to enjoy magnificent views of the Himalayas, including the tallest mountain on earth, Mount Everest.
Upon arrival in Lhasa, situated at 3,650 meters (12,000 feet), you will be transferred to your booked hotel. After checking in, you’ll have leisure time to explore the city. Take a walk around the Barkhor, located in the center of Lhasa’s Old Town. The Jokhang Temple, surrounded by the ancient market area, provides a perfect introduction to Tibet and offers great opportunities for photography.

There’s plenty to keep you busy during your stay in Lhasa for several days. One of the must-visit attractions is Tibet’s ancient Jokhang Temple, renowned as the holiest and most famous temple in the region. In the morning, the temple bustles with Tibetan pilgrims who come to worship, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Despite the crowds, this is the best time to experience the spiritual energy of the place. Jokhang Temple is a sacred site and a major highlight of any visit to Tibet.
In the afternoon, you can explore Sera Monastery and witness the famous Buddhist philosophy debates that take place daily (Monday to Friday). This lively exchange of ideas among the monks is a fascinating insight into Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

After breakfast, you can begin your day by visiting the Potala Palace. It’s recommended to explore the interior of the palace in the morning when it’s less crowded. Afterward, you can take a leisurely walk along the pilgrimage route around the Potala.
In the afternoon, you can explore other amazing places such as the Norbulingka (the Dalai Lama’s summer palace), Drepung Monastery, Sangkhung Nunnery, Ramoche Temple, and more. Please note that there is a limited number of visitors allowed inside the Potala Palace each day, so the order of sightseeing places will be decided by your guide.

After enjoying your morning breakfast, embark on a 250-kilometer drive to reach Shigatse, situated at an elevation of 3900 meters. The journey from Lhasa to Shigatse takes you through lush plains where wheat and barley thrive. Shigatse offers several attractions, with the Tashilhunpo Monastery being a prominent highlight.
This monastery is one of the six principal monastic institutions of the Yellow Hat Sect of Tibetan Buddhism and serves as the spiritual hub for the Panchen Lama lineage, second only in importance to the Dalai Lama. Tashilhunpo Monastery holds significant religious significance and draws pilgrims from all corners of the Tibetan plateau, especially during New Year’s celebrations.
The area around the monastery features the newly reconstructed Shigatse Dzong and a bustling Walking Street, complete with souvenir shops, eateries, and tea houses, offering a glimpse into local culture and commerce.

Departing from Shigatse, you will embark on a drive to Nam Tso, the largest lake in the Tibet Autonomous Region. En route to Nam Tso, you will traverse the formidable Suge La, a towering mountain pass standing at 5440 meters above sea level. This pass ranks among the highest drivable passes globally, surpassing even the famous Khardung La in Ladakh, India, often touted as the highest motorable road worldwide (though this claim is disputed).
From the summit of Suge La Pass, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the towering peaks of the Nyenchen Tanglha Range, some of which exceed 7000 meters in height. Nam Tso itself, situated at an elevation of 4718 meters (15,479 feet), is a breathtakingly beautiful lake. Along the way, you may encounter nomadic yak herders, adding to the region’s rugged charm. Nestled on the lake’s shores lies the quaint Tashi Dor Monastery.

After breakfast, you will drive back to Shigatse, which lies 354 kilometers west of Lhasa at an altitude of 3,810 meters. Relax in your vehicle and enjoy the scenery passing by your window. Upon reaching Shigatse, check into your hotel and take some rest. Later, you can explore the nearby areas of Shigatse.

In the morning, visit Tashilumo Monastery which is the seat of Panchen Lama, the equally important religious figure in Tibet as Dalai Lama. The monastery was built by the first Dalai Lama in 1447, and inside the Monastery placed the highest statue of Buddha in Tibet which is 26.8 meters high. Afterwards, you will drive back to Lhasa; the free time is on your own.

After breakfast, transfer to Gonggar Airport in Lhasa for your onward flight to Kathmandu. Like in earlier times, try to get the left-side seat in the plane to observe the glorious view of the Himalayan ranges. Upon arrival at the airport, meet our official representative, and they will transfer you to the hotel. Check in at the hotel and have a rest, and later on, you can stroll around Thamel Street and to its nearby places. This marks the end of the Everest Basecamp with Gokyo and Tibet Tour.
