The Ghorepani and Poon Hill Trek, also known as the Poon Hill Trek, passes through culturally rich villages such as Ghorepani, Ghandruk, Tikhedhunga, etc. Along with a sunrise view over Annapurna Mountain, the Poon Hill Trek also offers panoramic views of several mountains, including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

Heading north of Pokhara, we will take one hour to drive to Nayapul. We will leave the wide, pitch-black road and follow the beaten trekking trail. Overall, this trail passes through the rivers, dense rhododendron forest, and Gurung settlements to reach Poon Hill. Along with the sunrise view, one can awaken spiritual feelings in the tranquil Annapurna region.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu

Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal! An Asian Heritage Treks and Travels representative will welcome you at the airport with your nameplate. After your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, we will transfer you to the hotel. On the way from the airport to the hotel, you will pass by the Pashupatinath Temple, the Royal Palace Museum, i.e., Narayanhiti, the Garden of Dreams, and reach Thamel. Your hotel will be in the downtown area of the tourist hub. Our representative will facilitate and discuss your travel itinerary. There will be enough time to stroll through the streets of Thamel.

Accommodation: an overnight stay at Yatri Suites & Spa Thamel or a similar hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2Kathmandu to Pokhara

Today, we drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. On the way, you can enjoy the greenery around you and the beautiful hills. What attracts most visitors to Pokhara is the richness of the valley, with its pure and natural beauty. Just imagine the joy of observing the majestic Himalayas, reflecting their shadow on Phewa Lake, and the cleanliness of Pokhara city.

Accommodation: an overnight stay at Hotel Crystal Palace or a similar one in Pokhara.

Day 3Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1540 m) (3-4-hour hike)

Our trekking guide will come to pick you up from your hotel in a private vehicle and transfer you to the starting point of the trek, Nayapul (1050m). You will start walking through the old villages and meandering green hills on your third day of the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. Terraced paddy fields along the neighboring yet distant hills and the wind gushing in your face make for a pleasant and smooth drive with much time to enjoy the landscape. Continue walking through the easy trail, which passes along paddy fields to Tikhedhunga.

Day 4Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2750m) (6-7-hour hike)

Getting back on the trail, you will be rising up at a slow and gentle pace, passing through Ulleri (2070m). There are lots of opportunities to interact with the locals and learn, understand, and get a pure experience of their lifestyle. Along the way, one can enjoy the majestic views of Machhapuchhre (6997m), Huinchuli (6441m), Annapurna South (7219 m), and the world’s largest rhododendron forest.

Ghorepani

Day 5Ghorepani to Tadapani (2650m) via Poon Hill (3210m) (6-7-hour hike)

Today, you will visit Poon Hill, a vantage point, and head to Tadapani. You will begin the trek to Poon Hill (3210 m) in the early morning to catch the first ray of sunlight. The pleasant sunrise at Poon Hill Trek passes through culturally rich villages that are set against the backdrop of majestic mountains. Along with a sunrise view over Mt. Annapurna, Poon Hill also offers panoramic views of several mountains, including the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains.

You will return and have your breakfast at Ghorepani, and then commence the trek to Tadapani (2650 m). The trek will begin through a thick forest of rhododendrons, bamboo, and oaks. One can observe and appreciate nature’s beauty: waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, birds, and green valleys.

Day 6Tadapani to Ghandruk (2000m) (3-4 hour hike)

Start trekking through jungle areas, as you will pass through different villages, jungles, and streams. After continuous walking for 3 to 4 hours, you will see the beautiful Gurung village, which is called Ghandruk. This place will be a stopover for tonight. Use your remaining time to explore, interact with the locals, and visit the home of the Gurung people (an ethnic group of Nepal with unique culture and traditions). This place also provides a fantastic view of the mountains like Annapurna South, Hiuchuli, Fishtail, and many more.

Ghandruk

Day 7Ghandruk to Pokhara

Today marks the final day of your Ghorepani and Poon Hill Trek. Begin your day with breakfast at the lodge before starting the downhill walk to Nayapul. Enjoy a quieter walk compared to previous days. Upon reaching Nayapul, you’ll catch a vehicle back to Pokhara, where your tour concludes.

Day 8Pokhara to Kathmandu (6-7 hours)

You will drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu on your seventh day of the Ghorepani and Poon Hill Trek. On the way, you can see the beautiful hills and slopes. Later, you can stroll through the streets of Thamel for shopping. You can also buy souvenirs for your friends and family.

Accommodation: an overnight stay at Hotel Yatri Suites & Spa or a similar one.

Day 9Departure

The Nepal Highlights Tour comes to an end today. After breakfast, our representative will pick you up with a private van and drop you off at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport approximately three hours before your scheduled flight back to your home or other destination.
