Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu airport, our representative will meet, greet, and welcome you and transfer you to your confirmed hotel. You can rest, relax, and enjoy your time at the hotel or you can stroll around the Thamel area.

Day 2-3Flight from Kathmandu-Nepalgunj-Simikot-Hilsa & drive to purang (3400 m), rest day flight duration: 2 hours 30 minutes hiking duration: 1 hour travel duration: 1 hour

After breakfast, we took a flight of an hour to Nepalgunj situated in South Western Nepal, and then changed our flight to Simikot airport. As you step out of the aircraft you will witness a different world. You’ll then visit the border immigration office of Nepal here and according to the regulations of Nepal, you must put an exit stamp on your Passport before you leave for China (Kailash).

The entire formalities take about 30 to 45 minutes. We then take a helicopter to Hilsa, the border village between Nepal and China which takes about a 30-minute flight. Once you land at Hilsa, you’ll enter the China side and then continue trekking up to the “Sher village” where the Chinese immigration Office and Border Check Post are located. Your vehicles (Land Cruisers & trucks) are waiting there as well. It may take about two hours to gather all group members & luggage in the immigration office up in Sher. From Sher, it takes another hour to reach Taklakot (Purang – 3700 m). Tomorrow will be a rest day as you have to acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 4Purang to lake Mansarovar (4550 m) travel duration: 3 hours

In the early morning, after having breakfast, you’ll depart for Lake Manasarovar (4560 m- Chui Gompa). On the way, you’ll have a short break in RakshasTaal (Lake Ravana), dedicated to the demon Ravan, to take some pictures & observe the scenery. Afterward, continue your journey to Lake Manasarovar. On reaching the lake, take the holy dip (opt) and go driving around Lake Manasarovar on the jeep which takes about approximately 3 hours.

Day 5Mansarovar to Darchen (4664 m) travel duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

In the morning, you can perform Pooja & take a holy dip in the lake. Later, we leave the lake and drive to Darchen, Mount Kailash Base Camp at 4664 m.

Day 6Darchen to Yam Dwar & onward to Deraphuk (4920 m) travel duration: 45 minutes hiking duration: 5-6 hours

After breakfast, we drive to Yam Dwar (4750 m). This is the gateway to the circuit around Mt. Kailash and also you can see the closest view of Mt. Kailash. From here, those who are willing to perform the holy circumambulation around Mt. Kailash will start trekking from “Yama Dwar” and the rest of the people who are not willing to go trekking will return to Darchen on Jeep and wait for others to come. The trail to Deraphuk is easy & flat however because of the high elevation, you will find it difficult to walk.

Day 7Deraphuk to Zutrul Phuk (4780 m) via Dolma pass (5600 m), hiking duration: 9 hours

Today, we start early as it is the toughest day of this journey, and start trekking uphill to Dolma-La pass (5600 m). From here the trail rapidly descends to the next valley floor (Zutulphuk) and beyond this lies the holiest glacial lake – GauriKunda which people believe, is where Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva used to take baths. Continuing our trail, we reach ZutulphukGomba after two hours of walking.

Day 8Zutul Phuk to Darchen & drive back to Taklakot hiking duration: 3 hours travel duration: 4 hours

Today is the day that you’ll complete the circuit around Mt. Kailash. The circuit will be finished near Darchen where our vehicles will be waiting for you and drive you back to Taklakot.

Day 9Taklakot to Hilsa, flight from Hilsa-Simikot-Nepalgunj-Kathmandu travel duration: 1 hour hiking duration 30 minutes flight duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

After having breakfast, you’ll travel back to Sher village from where you’ll enter the Nepal border and trek down to Hilsa (45 minutes). On reaching Hilsa, take a helicopter flight to Nepalgunj via Simikot. From Nepalgunj airport, take another flight to Kathmandu, and in Kathmandu, our office representative will escort you to the hotel. This marks the end of the Kailash Mansarovar Tour.

Day 10Departure

Have your breakfast early in the morning and our office representative will come to pick you up at the hotel to transfer you to the airport regarding your flight time.
