Day TourPickup and Sightseeing

Swoyambhunath (Monkey Temple)

Begin the day with a visit to Swoyambhunath, a stunning stupa atop a hill offering panoramic views of Kathmandu. Known as the “Monkey Temple” due to the population of holy monkeys residing in the area, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a perfect blend of Buddhist and Hindu symbolism. Take a leisurely walk around the stupa, spin the prayer wheels, and enjoy the morning tranquility.

Kathmandu Durbar Square

Head to the heart of Kathmandu to visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic square is home to ancient palaces, courtyards, and temples, including the Kumari Ghar (house of the Living Goddess) and Taleju Temple. Dive into the cultural richness of Nepal by observing the traditional architecture and the local life around the square.

Patan Durbar Square

Travel to nearby Patan, also known as Lalitpur, to explore the majestic Patan Durbar Square. Visit the ancient Krishna Mandir, Hiranya Varna Mahavihar (Golden Temple), and the Patan Museum, which showcases artifacts from the valley’s history. Patan is famous for its Newari architecture and artistic craftsmanship, especially in metal and wood.

Explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Arrive in Bhaktapur, a well-preserved ancient city renowned for its medieval atmosphere and stunning architecture. Walk around the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, admiring landmarks like the 55-Window Palace, Vatsala Temple, Nyatapola Temple, and the Pottery Square. Take some time to explore the side streets and observe local artisans creating pottery and wood carvings. After the sightseeing lunch at a traditional Nepali restaurant or a popular eatery along the way. Enjoy local cuisines, like dal bhat, momo, or Newari delicacies.

Boudhanath Stupa

Return towards Kathmandu to visit Boudhanath, one of the largest and most significant stupas in Nepal. The white dome, colorful prayer flags, and serene atmosphere make it a spiritual hub for Buddhist followers. Walk around the stupa in a clockwise direction, join the locals in circumambulation, and absorb the spiritual ambiance.

Pashupatinath Temple

Conclude the day with a visit to the Pashupatinath Temple, the most revered Hindu temple complex in Nepal, located on the banks of the Bagmati River. Although non-Hindus are not allowed inside the main temple, you can still explore the extensive grounds, observe the evening aarti (prayer ceremony), and witness the traditional rituals on the ghats by the river.
