Langtang Valley Trek with Ganja La Pass Trekking is an adventure trek in the famous Langtang and Helambu Valley via the Ganja La passes (5,122m). It connects to one of the most challenging passes in Ganja-La but offers excellent adventure in the Langtang region. It also makes an interesting excursion to Tserko RI (4,985m) which offers fantastic views of the Langtang Himalaya range and sunrise. The Langtang region is also famous for Gosaikunda Lakes.  This trekking is recommended to anyone who wants a challenging trekking experience in the Himalayas. Having this trek requires previous trekking experience, technical skills, climbing equipment, and a professional guide. You will get an off-the-beaten-track taste in this trekking.

Attraction of  Langtang Region

The attraction of the Langtang region is that it’s so close to Kathmandu and yet it’s as wild as any Tibetan highlands. You will discover Tibetan-style Tamang Villages in combination with panoramic Himalayan views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Yala Peak, Gauri Shankar, and many more. The most diverse trek of bamboo forests, green rhododendrons, snow-capped Himalayas, majestic waterfalls, and beautiful landscapes. Trek to Ganja La Pass provides an extraordinary experience of nature and cultural influence, such as The Kyanjing Gompa is a famous monastery, it is believed to be a meditation by Buddhist master Padma Sumbawa. Similarly, the routes across the Ganja Pass Trek contain several monasteries and Buddhist shrines. You can observe the warm hospitality of the Hyolmo people.

Start the trip with the drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. The trek begins from Syabrubesi, via the Kanyanjing Gompa, crosses the mighty Ganja La pass, and ends at the Melamchi Bazar in the Helambu region. You must be well equipped with enough food and shelter as you may not find any lodges for settlement for about 3 days along the route. Toward the end of the trip, you will also trek through some beautiful rice terraces and several splendid Buddhist monasteries around the delightful villages of Tarke Gyang and Samathang before heading back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrival In Kathmandu (1400 M)

After arriving in Kathmandu, our office representative will pick you up from the airport and will welcome, assist, and transfer you to the hotel. In the afternoon, you may rest as you might be having Jet Lag, and later on, visit the Asian Heritage office to get more insights about your trek. Furthermore, you can stroll around the local streets of Thamel and explore the city.

DAY 2 Trek preparations Day

Today is the free day before starting the Langtang Valley Trek with Ganja la Pass. During the free day in Kathmandu, you may have a chance to visit Kathmandu Valley’s UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon, we will bring you to our office followed by a pre-trip departure meeting regarding upcoming trekking peak climbing where you meet the trek guide and other team members. They will brief you about the team formation, equipment, and nature of peak climbing and other necessary information. If you need any equipment for the trek to buy or rent, your guide can assist you.
Include: Breakfast, and overnight accommodation in Hotel Yatri Suites and Spa or similar in Kathmandu. 

DAY 3 Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1467m) (Driving about 7 Hours).

You’ll start your journey after breakfast from Kathmandu. You’ll start with a private jeep drive along the north-western hills of Kathmandu enjoying the landscapes, passing small towns terraced fields, and rustic villages on your third day of Langtang Valley Trek with Ganja la Pass. Take Lunch at the Trishuli Bazar before continuing further to Dhunche, a major town in the Langtang area. From Dhunche, we descend down to Syabrubesi. After reaching Syabrubesi you will make a hotel check-in and rest. Syabrubesi is a charming village known for its traditional houses and warm hospitality. You can explore the village and interact with the locals to get a taste of the Tamang way of life.

DAY 4 Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2470m) (walking about 6 Hours).

After having your breakfast in the hotel you will have the first day of the journey. It is not difficult to walk in the low land but encounter several ups and downs along the trail. It makes us a bit tired. A trail goes along the Langtang Khola River, passing through the dense forests, and crossing many suspension bridges, forests, and villages to get to Lama Hotel.

DAY 5Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3400m) (walking about 6 Hours)

Early morning after breakfast, heading toward Langtang village along the Langtang River and continuing to walk along dense forests normally climb up. Enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung (7227m). Pass by water mills, praying wheels, and chortens with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. As you reach Langtang village you will make a hotel check-in and rest.

DAY 6 Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa (3850m) (walking about 4 Hours)

After having breakfast, you start your journey to Kyanjin Gompa, a significant monastery in the region. You will get out of the village and pass on through yak pastures. You also pass the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on it. The prayers written on the mani wall are supposed to be blown away by the wind. After a short trek, you will reach your destination and spend the rest of your time. Or You can explore the ancient Buddhist monastery, spin prayer wheels, and soak in the tranquil atmosphere.

DAY 7 Rest Day or Explore Kyanjin Gompa & Tserko Ri, (walking about 8 Hours)

Today, you will enjoy the best day of the entire trail! Although it is called a rest day; you can use your time to acclimatize, relax, and explore the surrounding places.
Today you will explore and around Kyanjin Gompa. You can also hike up to the vantage point at Tserko RI to relish the incredible sights of the mountains, glaciers, and the Langtang Valley. Tserko RI marks the highest elevation point of the trek at 5,000m above sea level. After getting some wonderful and magnificent views of the mountains and the surroundings, we returned to Kyanjin Gompa. Since you’ll return to Kyanjin Gompa by the afternoon, you can also explore the ancient monastery of the village. Additionally, you can also visit the cheese factory and glacier.

DAY 8 Kyanjing Gompa to Ganja La Phedi (4300m) (walking about 5 Hours)

Today after having breakfast, your adventure heads to Ganja La Phedi. Initially, You descend to the Langtang River and cross it. Then, the trail goes uphill through rhododendron forests. As you arrive in the Yak pasture, you’re already at a high altitude. It depends on the season getting to your destination. It might be a long day walk on a snow-strewn path due to the winter snow. As you reach the base of the Ganja La Pass set up tents to spend the night on your eighth day ofLangtang Valley Trek with Ganja la Pass

DAY 9 Ganja La Phedi to Ganja La pass (5122m) to Keldang (4250m) (walking about 6 Hours)

Today you will cross the Ganja – La pass (5122 m), a super day of trekking. It would be a hard day since one of the difficult passes. You will pass the small lakes and summit the Ganja La. Ganja–La is covered by snow almost throughout the year and requires climbing gears to pass through the rocky moraine. From the top, we get to enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Naya Kanga, Ganja La Peak, and several other high mountains. After Superb views from the pass Then, you will start descending down to Keldang from the glacier through the moraines. After descending for a couple of hours, we will reach a meadow, which is an excellent campsite on the flat valley below the glacier.

DAY 10 Keldang to Yak Kharka (Dukpa) (4000 m) (walking about 6 Hours)

After having breakfast at the tent you will descend following a prominent ridge line and grassland with amazing Himalayas’ amazing views. Today you continue losing altitude through forests, ridges, and grasslands.

DAY 11 Yak Kharka (Dukpa) to Tarke Gyang (2,590 m)( walking about 6 Hours).

Today, the trail goes slightly down. You follow mostly descending trails losing altitude. The trail would be similar except as you descend lower. You pass through many Sherpa villages in the dense forests of rhododendrons before reaching Tarke Gyang, popularly known as Helambu. Overnight in Tarke Gyang.

DAY 12 Tarke Gyang to Sermathang (2,610 m) and Drive to Kathmandu (walking about 4 hours and driving about 6 hours)

Today is your final day of the trek, After Breakfast, you will start your day. It is easy and relatively flat, and not much ascends to Sermathang, you will cross small forests along easy trails with beautiful views of the Helambu region. Passing through the rhododendron forests, villages, cultivated lands, and monasteries. The trail makes a sweep around the wide valley end between Parachin and the pretty Sherpa village Gyagyul, The people of the village practice Drukpa Kagyu Buddhism the same as the national religion of Bhutan. After exploring this amazing village you head towards Sermathang, which is mostly inhabited by Hyolmo people. From the Sermathang you will drive back to Kathmandu by private vehicle.

DAY 13 Departure

Your trip will come to an end today. You will be advised and assisted with your onward travel arrangements and transfer to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport by our private van around 3 hours before your flight schedule and flight back to your home/other travel destination.
