The Mohare Danda trek takes you along a peaceful, well-trodden path in Annapurna’s foothills. Mohare Danda Trek is a newly discovered hiking route in the Annapurna region. It promotes sustainable ecotourism in Nepal. You can play a pivotal role in uplifting the lifestyle of native Himalayan inhabitants. 

This Mohare Danda trek is popularly known as the Eco-Community Lodge Trek. It is the ideal option for enthusiasts who wish to explore the unlimited natural and cultural beauties of Nepal. The Mohare Danda trek provides the closest view of Mount Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri ranges. 

Mohare Hill station is situated at an elevation of 3,300m above sea level. You can view the glorious sunrise and sunset views over the glittering mountains. The viewpoint of Poonhill is another famous part of the trek. A trip to the off-beaten site of the Annapurna region is truly an incredible experience. You get to explore the hills, mountains, rivers, and forests of Oaks, Bamboo, and Pine.

How to reach Mohare Danda

Starting in Kathmandu, you’ll journey to Pokhara, followed by a 3-hour drive to Galeshwor in Myagdi District. Trekking from Galeshwor, you’ll reach Bans Kharka, a village with terraced corn and rice farming. Continuing from Bans Kharka, you’ll hike to Naangi, a charming village with breathtaking landscapes. Then, you’ll progress to Mohare Danda (3,300m) through oak and rhododendron forests, treating you to panoramic vistas of Mt. Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Mt. Dhaulagiri. The subsequent day brings a trek from Mohare Danda to Ghorepani, where tea houses offer Himalayan views and warm refreshments. At dawn, Climb Poon Hill for awe-inspiring sunrise scenes over Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Dhaulagiri, and more. Following the Poon Hill hike to Ghandruk, a Gurung-inhabited village, and proceed to Nayapul. Along stone-paved paths and scenic landscapes, you’ll view Himalayan panoramas. From Nayapul, return to Pokhara and eventually to Kathmandu.

Best time for Mohare Danda Trek

The best times for the Mohare Danda trek are Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September – November), with cool temperatures and clear blue skies. 
It is also possible to hike in December and January, but be thoughtful about the weather and snowy climate.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival In Kathmandu, Nepal

Welcome To Kathmandu, Nepal!
As you arrive, an Asian Heritage Treks & Travel representative will welcome you at the Airport with your nameplate. Then, you shall immediately be transferred to the hotel. On the way to the Hotel, you will pass by the Open cremation Place (Pashupatinath temple), the Royal Palace Museum i.e., Narayanhity, and the Garden of Dreams before you reach Thamel. Your hotel will be downtown at the Touristic Hub. Our representative will facilitate you and discuss your travel itinerary. There will be enough time to stroll through the streets of Thamel.

Day 2Sightseeing In Kathmandu Valley - Kathmandu Durbar Square - Swyambhunath Stupa - Pashupatinath Temple - Boudhanath Stupa

Our day will start with a full-day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. Your first stop will be Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its intricate wood-carved temples and buildings.
Next, you will head to Swyambhunath Temple, also known as the Monkey Temple, where you can enjoy panoramic views of Kathmandu city. From there, you will visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites in the world. You can observe the ritual body cremating ceremony process and explore the surrounding area.
A short walk from Pashupatinath Temple is Guhyeshwari Temple, another important Hindu pilgrimage site. Finally, you will visit Boudhanath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest stupa in the world. You can explore the surroundings of the stupa and learn about its significance to Buddhism.
After a full day of sightseeing, you will be returned to your hotel.

Day 3Kathmandu To Pokhara Drive Duration: 5-6 Hours

Today, we will drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. On the way, you can enjoy the greenery of the beautiful hills. Pokhara is rich with its pure and intact natural beauty. Just imagine the joy of observing the shadow of the Himalayas reflecting on Fewa Lake. The valley is equally outstanding with elevated close-ups of the snowy peaks. Pokhara is famous for sightseeing, mountain views, and many adventurous outdoor activities.

Day 4Drive From Pokhara To Galeshwor & Hike To Bans Kharka (1525 M), Driving Duration: 3 Hours, Hiking Duration: 3 Hours

In the morning, our team will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to Galeshwor. It lies along the bank of the Kali Gandaki River. You need to trek for about 3 hours from Bans Kharka to Guleshwor. On the way, you will be crossing the suspension bridge over the deepest gorge of the Kali Gandaki River. Then your path will take you through the lush green forest. After a decent hike, you will reach Bans Kharka.

Day 5Trek To Naangi (2230 M), Hiking Duration: 7 Hours

Our destination for the day is Naangi. It is about a 6 to 7-hour walk from Bans Kharka to reach Naangi. You pass along the beautiful villages as you enjoy the stunning views of mountains and impressive landscapes. Today, you can also visit the organic farm school and Magar Settlement.

Day 6Trek To Mohare Danda (3300 M), Hiking Duration: 7 Hours

Continuing the Mohare Danda Trek, we reach Mohare Danda via peaceful trails through oak and rhododendron forests. From the top, enjoy stunning views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, and Tukuche Peak. In the evening, witness a beautiful sunset before returning to the eco-community lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 7Mohare Danda To Ghorepani Hiking Duration: 5 Hours

Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise and crystal clear views of the mountains. Mount Fishtail, Dhaulagiri II, Tukche, South Annapurna, Nilgiri, and other ranges are visible. Afterward, start your trek toward Deurali. Today, your trail will lead you through the gradual ups and downs until you reach Ghorepani. It is about a 5-hour walk to reach Ghorepani from Mohare Danda. Upon arrival, check in at the lodge and have a rest.

Day 8 Ghorepani (2853 M) To Ghandruk Village Via Poonhill (3210 M), Hiking Duration: 6/7 Hours

You will begin the trek to Poon Hill (3210m) in the early morning to catch the first ray of sunlight. The pleasant sunrise at the Poonhill trek will remain in your memories forever. Along with the sunrise view, you can witness the mountain ranges of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Then, you will return to Ghorepani for breakfast. After breakfast, start trekking to Ghandruk village.
As the trail moves across a group of flatlands, forests, cultivated lands, and a suspension bridge over Khumbu Khola, you arrive at Ghandruk. The scenic & beautiful village of Ghandruk demands 6 to 7 hours of walking. A vantage point in this pristine village offers breathtaking views of the mountain ranges. Several teahouses in the village give you a warm welcome with Nepalese hospitality. Camping in its terraced fields of Ghandruk gives you the feeling of wild adventure.

Day 9Trek To Nayapul & Drive To Pokhara (822 M), Hiking Duration: 4 Hours, Driving Duration: 45 Minutes

Today is the last day of your trek. After breakfast, you will descend to Nayapul for around 5 hours. Following the trail paved by stones, you will walk through beautiful terraced farming. After crossing Modi Khola, you will reach Birethanti. A half-hour walk from Birethanti takes you to Nayapul. From there, our private vehicle will drive you to Pokhara. On reaching Pokhara, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 10Pokhara – Kathmandu Drive Duration: 6-7 Hours

You will drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu. On the way, you can see the beautiful hills and slopes. Later, you can stroll through the streets of Thamel for shopping. You can also buy souvenirs for your friends and family.

Day 11 Sightseeing Tour Around Patan And Bhaktapur

Your guide will pick you up and drive you to Patan, an ancient city in the Kathmandu Valley. Visit Patan Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its wood-carved temples and palaces. Explore the Patan Museum to learn about the city’s history and kings. Visit the Golden Temple, a sacred site for Hindus and Buddhists. Continue to Bhaktapur, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at the city’s well-preserved medieval architecture, including temples, palaces, and courtyards. Visit the Nyatapola Temple, one of the biggest temples in Nepal. Learn about traditional pottery-making methods and take a class at Pottery Square.

Day 12Departure

Your trip will come to an end today. First, you will be advised and assisted with your onward travel arrangements. Then, we shall transfer you to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport. You will reach the airport 3 hours before your flight schedule.

ia Asian Heritage hebben we een 6-daagde trekking door de Himalaya met gids en porter gedaan. Het was een onvergetelijke tocht naar Mardi Himal waar je de meest fantastische uitzichten hebt. Gids Shiva en porter Gyan (aanraders!) zorgden ervoor dat alles perfect geregeld was. Naast dat het hele gezellige gasten zijn, zijn ze ook zeer deskundig en kunnen ze overal bij helpen. Onderweg slaap je in kampen, heerlijk primitief en back to basic, maar wordt er wel goed voor je gekookt ‘s avonds en ‘s ochtends voordat je weer aan de wandel gaat. De plaatselijke bevolking is enorm vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Asian Heritage zorgt niet alleen voor de overnachtingen, de gids en de porter, maar ook voor vervoer, slaapzakken en waar nodig extra kleding. Je gaat goed voorbereid op stap en hoeft eigenlijk alleen nog maar te genieten van al het moois dat je tegenkomt. Met als ultieme beloning de aankomst op de top van je trekking. Voor iedereen een keer een stukje Himalaya wil ontdekken, is dit een absolute aanrader!
