A short day hike to Nagarjuna Hill (2128 m) – also known as the Jamacho hike is one of the most popular, short, and easy 1-day hiking near Kathmandu in Shivapuri National Park. Nagarjuna Hill, west of the valley, also known as Vindhya Mountain, is the most popular pilgrimage site for Hindus as well as Buddhists. Our major highlights will be Nagarjuna Durbar Square, Nagarjuna Buddha, and so on. On the hilltop of Nagarjuna, a beautiful Jamacho Monastery is situated where you can find the small statue of Nagarjuna Buddha. On the east side of the stupa, there are rows of Buddhist gods and goddesses. In the first row, Mahakala is in meditation pose, and the third is Vasundhara while the second row includes white Tara, Padmapani green Tara, and Vajrapani.
Besides this, you can also be rewarded with spectacular views of mountain ranges. Buddha Jayanti and Jamacho Jatra are observed with a special celebration. This national park consists of two different hill islands; Shivapuri to the north and Nagarjuna to the west of Kathmandu separated by a thick urban area. A couple of hours hike to the Jamacho Peak takes you through the dense forest known as Raniban – the forest rich in diverse flora and fauna. Nagarjuna Hill is popular for its historical and religious significance as well as the splendid mountain view of Jamacho Peak along with some other ranges and the entire valley.
