Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,593ft)

As you arrive, an Asian Heritage Treks & Travel representative will welcome you at the airport with your nameplate. Then, you will be immediately transferred to the hotel. On the way to the hotel, you will pass by the Open Cremation Place (Pashupatinath Temple), the Royal Palace Museum, i.e., Narayanhity, and the Garden of Dreams before you reach Thamel. Your hotel will be downtown at the tourist hub. Our representative will facilitate and discuss your travel itinerary. There will be enough time to stroll through the streets of Thamel.

Day 2Sightseeing in Kathmandu

After breakfast, our guide will take you to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO heritage site with wood-carved temples. Then, visit Swyambhunath for a panoramic view of Kathmandu. Explore Pashupatinath Temple, a major Hindu pilgrimage site, and Guweyswori Temple nearby. Finally, visit Boudhanath Stupa, a unique Buddhist stupa built in 600 A.D. After sightseeing, return to the hotel for some rest.

Day 3Sightseeing in Patan and Bhaktapur

Today, our guide will welcome you and drive you to Patan for sightseeing. In Patan, you will see other heritage sites such as Krishna Temple and Patan Durbar Square. Later, you will visit the Patan Museum to learn more about Patan’s history and kings. You also visit the Golden Temple and the Banglamukhi Temple, which are popular among Hindus and Buddhists alike.
 
Following that, we will visit Bhaktapur, where you will be amazed by the architecture. Observe the old, wood-carved buildings all over Bhaktapur. Explore the surroundings, including the Nyatapola Temple, Nepal’s largest temple. Here, you can also take a pottery-making class using traditional methods, because will visit Pottery Square. You will be taught how to design and decorate your pot with beautiful patterns and inscriptions.

Day 4Flight to Paro

Flying over the Dragon Kingdom and landing at Paro International Airport is prodigious. Paro is a magnificent valley and home to monasteries, peaks, and temples. Peaks like Chomolhari and Jitchu Drake look magnificent. Then you will be welcomed upon your arrival. After your arrival, we will welcome you and drive you to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Then, you will check in at the hotel and spend the night there.

Day 5Sightseeing in Thimphu

After breakfast, we shall visit the market, which is open four days a week (on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). We also visit the handmade paper mill, the School of Arts and Crafts, where students learn about 13 different arts. Then, we drive past the Memorial Chorten (temple) built in memory of the late 3rd king. We shall visit Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley. Then we will also visit an enclosure where they keep a national animal and Zilukha nunnery.

Day 6Thimpu-Punakha-Wangdi-Thimphu

Today we drive you to Punakha over the Dochu La pass at an altitude of 3,050 meters (10,000 ft). On the way, you will see more of the beautiful scenery Bhutan has to offer. Once at Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong and settle down for lunch. After lunch, we visit Wangdi Dzong from the outside and drive to Thimphu.

Day 7Drive from Thimphu to Paro

After breakfast, drive through the Paro Valley to see the Drukgyel Dzong and Kyi-chu Lhakhang. On a clear day, one can see the Majestic Chomolhari. Also, visit the National Museum located in Ta Dzong. It displays a rich collection of fine art and weapons.

Day 8Flight from Paro to Kathmandu and Flight to Pokhara

In the morning, after breakfast, you will fly to Kathmandu. You can enjoy the spectacular view of the mountains from the window seat. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our guide will assist you. Your flight onward to Pokhara will then be managed, and shortly you will be flying to the beautiful city of Pokhara. You then check in at the hotel and can also stroll around the streets of Pokhara.

Day 9Sightseeing in Pokhara I

Today you will go sightseeing in the beautiful Pokhara. Devi’s Fall, a mysterious waterfall, is only a short drive away. The Pardi Khola, an outflow from Phewa Lake, causes the fall. Devi’s Fall disappears into a mysterious cavern in the ground while producing magnificent sprays.

Another attraction is the Seti Gandaki River, which runs through the town. The limestone in the soil gives the river its milky hue. In some places, the Seti Gandaki runs completely underground. Several Tibetan settlements near Pokhara sell handicrafts and Tibetan carpets. In addition, we will visit Davi’s Waterfall, Gupteswor Mahadev, and the International Mountain Museum.

Day 10Sightseeing in Pokhara II

Today, you’ll start with an early drive to Sarangkot. Here, we can capture the city’s tranquil and magical view before sunrise. The first rays of sunlight on the mountains in the background are spectacular. Furthermore, Sarangkot provides panoramic views of Annapurna, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri, and other mountains.

Next, we’ll go boating at Fewa Lake and hike to Peace Stupa. Pokhara Shanti Stupa is a Buddhist pagoda-style monument situated on Anadu Hill in Kaski. The boat ride across Phewa Lake from Pumdi Bhumdi Bay to Phewa Ghat takes up to half an hour. It’s a great opportunity to see Himalayan peaks reflected in the water. It’s also a relaxing way to end a hike with a panoramic loop around the World Peace Pagoda.

Day 11Drive to Lumbini

Today, we will drive you to Lumbini. There, you will visit the Sacred Garden, with the Mayadevi temple depicting the birth of Lord Buddha. You will witness the Ashoka pillar pinpointing the place of birth of the Buddha. Also, you will see a Sakyan Tank where Mayadevi, the mother of the Buddha, is supposed to have taken a dip before bringing forth the baby. There are many other remnants of monasteries and chaityas built over the centuries.

Lumbini

Day 12Sightseeing in Lumbini and Drive to Chitwan

Today we shall visit Lumbini in the early morning. You will explore German Monastery, Chinese Monastery, Thai Monastery, International Nuns, and the Golden Temple. Moreover, the peaceful monastic zone flourishes on the teachings of Lord Buddha. Learn about the different cultures in the different monastic zones of Lumbini. After finishing sightseeing, you will continue the journey to Chitwan. You will reach Chitwan in the early evening and check in at the hotel.

Day 13Activities in Chitwan

Today we shall first walk around the jungle of Chitwan. Then, we shall dive deep into the forest in the local jeep to trace the footprints of the tiger. Further, get prepared for a glimpse of the one-horned rhino, Asian elephant, spotted deer (chital), barking deer, hog deer, samber, swamp deer, blackbuck, bull, wild boar, wild dog, leopard, and many other wild animals.

After completing the jungle safari, we shall head for the canoe trip. You will canoe along the Rapti River. You will see a variety of birds in the river along with the canoe trip.

Chitwan National Park

Day 14Chitwan to Kathmandu

Today we shall drive back to Kathmandu. Later on, you can stroll through the streets of Thamel. You can buy gifts as a token of love for your friends and family. You can also rest in the hotel and pack your bags, as this is the last day before you leave for your destination the following day. This marks the end of the Nepal-Bhutan Highlights Tour.

Day 15Departure

The Nepal Highlights Tour comes to an end today. After breakfast, our representative will pick you up with a private van and drop you off at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport approximately three hours before your scheduled flight back to your home or other destination.
