This trip provides an opportunity to experience the best of Nepal, covering the capital city of Kathmandu, the serene Dhulikhel in the Kathmandu Valley, the jungle of Chitwan National Park, the birthplace of Buddha in Lumbini, Pokhara, and the gateway to the Himalayas mountains. The itinerary includes not only must-visit places but also unique activities that allow you to connect with the culture and meet the residents. Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu

Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at the airport, an Asian Heritage Treks & Travel representative will be there to greet you, holding your nameplate. From the airport, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Along the way, you’ll pass through some important landmarks, including the Pashupatinath Temple, the Royal Palace Museum (also known as Narayanhity Palace), and the Garden of Dreams, before reaching Thamel, the tourist hub where your accommodation is located. The streets of Thamel offer plenty of opportunities for exploration.

Day 2Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Explore Kathmandu’s cultural treasures on a guided tour in a private vehicle. Begin at Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to admire intricate wood-carved temples and historic structures. Next, head to Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple), where Buddhist and Hindu traditions peacefully coexist. Enjoy panoramic views of Kathmandu from this hilltop marvel. Visit Pashupatinath Temple, a vital Hindu pilgrimage site in Southeast Asia. Witness the solemn body cremation ceremonies along the Bagmati River.
Next, explore Boudhanath Stupa, another UNESCO gem built in 600 AD, representing Buddhism. After sightseeing, take time to stroll around Boudhanath Stupa before returning to your hotel. This comprehensive journey offers a rich blend of history, spirituality, and culture in the heart of Kathmandu.

Day 3Sightseeing in Bhaktapur and Continue to Dhulikhel

Your exploration continues as you visit the ancient city of Bhaktapur, renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture. As you wander through the narrow alleys, you’ll encounter traditional Newari houses, intricately carved wooden windows, and exquisite stone temples. Bhaktapur is considered to be the place of traditional Nepali culture, customs, arts, and aortic rafts. This place is surrounded by Newari people in a large group. The temples and shrines located in the area define the traditions of early Nepal. Bhaktapur is known as the most ancient city. Durbar Square used to be the home place of royal families. There are four different squares i.e. Taumadhi Square, Durbar Square, Pottery Square, and Dattatreya Square. The ancient temples and other architecture here lasted from the 17th to 18th century. The overall square premises are a bunch of art and architecture that was developed by the Newari people. After completing your sightseeing, you’ll continue your journey to Dhulikhel, a small and tranquil village in the Kathmandu Valley known for its picturesque scenery.

Day 4Drive from Dhulikhel to Chitwan

On the fourth day of the Nepal cultural round-trip with the Poon Hill trek, you will journey to Chitwan and embark on a tour of Chitwan National Park. Chitwan National Park is a preserved area in the Terai Lowlands of south-central Nepal, known for its biodiversity. Its dense forests and grassy plains are home to rare mammals like one-horned rhinos and Bengal tigers. The park shelters numerous bird species, including the giant hornbill. Dugout canoes traverse the northern Rapti River, home to crocodiles. Inside the park is Balmiki Ashram, a Hindu pilgrimage site.

Day 5Activities in Chitwan

Start your full-day sightseeing tour. You’ll embark on a jungle safari by Jeep. Enter the community forest section to observe the one-horned rhino and various other wild animals like wild boar, deer, and leopard. Afterward, cross the Rapti River to reach the outskirts of the main national park area. If luck is on your side, you might even spot the Royal Bengal Tiger in the highland area, where the bushes can reach up to 6 feet.

Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to witness wild elephants and other fascinating creatures. Once you’ve completed your jungle safari, return to the hotel for lunch. Later, take a guided tour of the Tharu village and enjoy a canoeing adventure on the Rapti River. Here, you can observe the Marsh Mugger and Gharial crocodiles resting by the banks of the Rapti River in Chitwan. Return to the hotel to relax after your sightseeing tour.

Day 6Drive from Chitwan to Lumbini and Sightseeing in Lumbini

Today, after breakfast, you will drive to Lumbini which is approximately 06 hour’s drive from Chitwan. Lumbini is the most important Buddhist pilgrimage site – the place where Buddha was born and attracts Buddhist pilgrims from around the world.

In the afternoon, you will proceed to the tour of Lumbini, one of the world’s major religious, architectural, and historical sites. The place with monuments, temples, and ancient sites making it a UNESCO World Heritage Site. First, we visit the Mayadevi temple which is built on the exact place where Buddha was born. Spend some time wandering around the gardens, some of the important landmarks and monuments in Lumbini include Ashoka’s Pillar erected by Emperor Ashoka (249 BC) on the spot of Buddha’s birth which also has the oldest inscription in Nepal. There are many Buddhist monasteries founded by devotees from different countries: Visit the remarkably beautiful monasteries built by countries such as China, Japan, Burma, Korea, France, Belgium, Myanmar, Germany, America, India, Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, and many more; admire the spectacular and diverse architecture they showcase. After exploring Lumbini back to the hotel and take a rest.

Day 7Lumbini to Pokhara (6-7-hour drive)

On the seventh day of your Tour, you will head towards Pokhara, located in the northwest direction of Lumbini, approximately 210 kilometers away. Upon your arrival in Pokhara, check-in at the hotel and take some time to rest. Later in the afternoon, you can explore the charming lakeside streets of Pokhara and enjoy the serene beauty of Phewa Lake.

Day 8Sightseeing in Pokhara

Today, you will start with an early drive to Sarangkot to capture the tranquil and magical view of the city before sunrise and also to view the first rays of sunlight hitting the mountains in the background. Sarangkot offers panoramic views of the Annapurna, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri, and other peaks. After spending some time in Sarangkot, you will drive back to the hotel in Pokhara, have your breakfast, and then you will have a sightseeing tour of David Falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev cafe, International Mountain Museum, and conclude your day after visiting the World Peace Stupa.

Day 9Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Ulleri (5-6-hour hike)

We start the day by waking up refreshed and having breakfast to prepare for the long day ahead. Next, we head to Nayapul, the starting point of our trek to Ulleri. Along the way, we traverse small villages, witnessing local life and enjoying the scenic views of terraced rice fields. Our overnight stay will be in the Mogar community.

Day 10Ulleri to Ghorepani (2874m) (4-5 hour hike)

From Ulleri to Ghorepani, the trek will go through a beautiful rhododendron forest. Annapurna South, Fishtail Mountain, and Hiunchuli can be seen during this trek. The night will be spent at Ghorepani.

Day 11Ghorepani to Tadapani via Poon Hill (3,210m) (6-7-hour hike)

The day will start early to experience the sunrise from Poon Hill. The Poon Hill offers a panoramic view of the Annapurna Region, including Dhaulagiri Mountain. After returning to the guesthouse and having breakfast, the trek to Tadapani starts. On the way to Tadapani, the view of Annapurna continues, and the serene environment of the forest and mountain follows it up.

Day 12 Tadapani to Tolka (7-8-hour hike)

After breakfast, we prepare for the long trek to Tolka. We start by trekking downhill through the forest for a couple of hours, reaching Ghandruk village as our first destination. We enjoy lunch in Ghandruk village, with the majestic Annapurna mountain range still visible. Continuing from Ghandruk, we trek to Landruk and ultimately arrive at our day’s end destination, Tolka. We will stay at a tea house.

Day 13Tolka to Pokhara via Australian Base Camp (5-6-hours hike), (1.5-hour drive)

On the 13th day of our Nepal Cultural Round-Trip with the Poon Hill Trek, we’ll begin with breakfast and preparations for the last day of trekking to Pokhara. Our trek will lead us to the first village, Dewrali, where we’ll enjoy a view of the Pokhara Valley. Continuing from Dewrali, we’ll trek to the Australian Base Camp. From there, a 45-minute downhill trek will take us to Kadhe, the endpoint of our trek. We’ll arrange a taxi from Kadhe to the hotel in Pokhara, where we’ll spend the night.

Day 14Pokhara to Kathmandu (6-7-hour drive)

After breakfast, get ready and head back to Kathmandu through the private vehicle which takes around 6-7 hours. After reaching Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. You can enjoy the evening by strolling around the street of Thamel.

Day 15Departure

The Nepal cultural round-trip with the Poon Hill trek comes to an end today. After breakfast, our representative will pick you up with a private van and drop you off at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport approximately three hours before your scheduled flight back to your home or other destination.
