The hidden Glacier Tsho Rolpa trek lies between Everest and Langtang areas. The route is near the Tibet border side where most of the people are Buddhist. The route is more interesting with the Tamakoshi River on the way. A few miles south of the Tibetan border, you can experience the hidden valley that’s believed to be the place of legendary tales of a snowman – Yeti. You will enjoy the beauty of Tsho-Rolpa (the largest glacier lake in Nepal). Also, you will have a visit to a nunnery called Bigu Gompa. In this region, several festivals take place. The other attractions include – Ice Lake, scenic farmlands, mountain peaks, Sherpa people & their culture, historic towns, and so on.

Itinerary

Day 1Drive from Kathmandu to Shingati (950m) via Charikot (1660m) driving duration: 10 hours

In the morning, you will travel from Kathmandu to Shingati through the Sunkosi and Bhote Kosi River with the scenic villages and spectacular mountain views en route.
Accommodation: Overnight in a available local lodge in Shingati.

Day 2Shingati to Jagat (1440m) hiking duration: 6-7 hours

In the morning, we start our trial and after some time we cross the stream and approach steeper slopes. You will walk the narrow path on the cliff and arrive in SuriDhoban. We then cross the suspension bridge to reach Manthali village and then follow the trail to reach Jagat village.
Accommodation: Overnight in the available local lodge in Jagat.

Day 3Jagat to Simigaon (2020m) hiking duration: 5 hours

Continuing our trail, we reach Gongar village after crossing a small stream and then continue until we reach Chhetchhet – a Sherpa village. Afterward, we continue our trail crossing a suspension bridge and finally passing the chorten until reaching Simigaon.

Day 4Simigaon to Gyalchen (3300m) hiking duration: 6-7 hours

Today is a big day for us since we will be ascending to 3976 m. We start our trekking early as we head to the other side of the village then we move through the forest area reaching the Rolwaling River. Then we begin our ascent through the dense forest. As we make our way up, we will get a glimpse of Gaurishankar mountain and finally finishing the steep ascent, the trail becomes leveled until reaching Gyalchen.

Day 5Gyalchen to Beding (3690m) hiking duration: 4 hours

Today, we start walking through the forest until reaching Nyamare village. Afterward, we find Gompa at the entrance of the remotest and largest Sherpa village of Beding welcoming us. This is the largest settlement in Rolwaling Valley with the majority of Sherpas.

Day 6Acclimatization day

Today, you will have a rest day for acclimatization. You can explore the surrounding hills and villages, meet the people and experience their culture and traditions.

Day 7Beding to Na (4180m) hiking duration: 4-5 hours

We continue our trail as we start our climb on the bank of the Rolwaling River until reaching Kharka in Dhogre. Continuing our trail, we pass through a gigantic Mani stone draped with prayer flags and a large rock on which the image of Bodhisattva is pantedThen we pass the large rock on which the image of Bodhisattva is panted and will come to Na Gaon and will come to Na Gaon surrounded by stone walls.

Day 8Na to Tsho Rolpa lake (4540m) hiking duration: 4-5 hours

Today is an important day as we make our way to the final destination of our journey. Crossing the wooden bridge to the left bank of the Rolwaling River, we move to the prairie-like valley. Now the trail becomes a slightly steep ascent and can catch a glimpse of several kinds of edelweiss growing in this area. We then trek between the two glaciers and enter the ablation valley and finally see our destination, the TshoRolpa Lake.

Day 9Tsho Rolpa to Beding (3690m) hiking duration: 6-7 hours

From today, we will be making our way back to Kathmandu. We will return back from the glacial lake the same way back down reaching the village of Na. After some rest, we will head towards the village of Beding.

Day 10Beding to Shakpa (2250m) & onward to Maanthali, Hiking duration: 6-7 hours

We make our descent through the forested area and with a short glimpse of Gaurisankar until reaching Shakpa. we continue our same route which we experienced on our trek to TshoRolpa. We trek passing many villages until reaching Manthali Village.
Accommodation: Overnight in a available local lodge in Manthali.

Day 11Manthali to Kathmandu, driving duration: 6-7 hours

Enjoy your morning breakfast as today we will drive back to Kathmandu passing through the scenic river valley and picturesque villages.
Accommodation: Overnight in Yatri Suites and Spa or similar in Kathmandu.
