7-Day Nepal Highlights Tour offers a diverse exploration of Nepal’s culture, architecture, traditions, and landscapes. It begins with an exciting rafting adventure on the Trishuli River, suitable for both beginners and experienced rafters. Then, we visit Pokhara, known for its lakes and panoramic views of the Annapurna massifs and Fishtail Mountain. Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, is another destination, where you can experience peace and tranquility at the Sacred Garden and Maya Devi Temple. Our final stop is Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for a jungle safari to witness wildlife. Overall, the tour offers an amazing and bountiful experience showcasing Nepal’s rich culture, traditions, and natural beauty.

Itinerary

Day 1Drive from Kathmandu to Trishuli for rafting (5 hours)

The tour starts by leaving Kathmandu in the early morning at 7 a.m. After a 5-hour drive, you will arrive at the Trishuli River rafting base camp. Here, you’ll meet your experienced rafting guide, who will provide a safety briefing and give you all the necessary rafting equipment, including life jackets and helmets. Rafting on this river offers a mix of exciting rapids and calm sections, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced rafters. After a day of fun and adventure on the river, set up camp at a picturesque location near the Trishuli River, where you’ll camp and stay overnight.

Day 2Drive to Pokhara (3-4-hour drive)

After a delightful breakfast, you will embark on a scenic private transport drive to the enchanting city of Pokhara. The journey will take you through picturesque landscapes, with the majestic Himalayas as your backdrop. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you’ll check into your comfortable hotel, where you can unwind and rejuvenate after the road trip. Take in the breathtaking views of Phewa Lake and the Annapurna Range from your accommodation, and perhaps enjoy a stroll around the serene lakeside.

Day 3Sightseeing in Pokhara

Today, you will start with an early drive to Sarangkot to capture the tranquil and magical view of the city before sunrise and also to view the first rays of sunlight hitting the mountains in the background. Sarangkot offers panoramic views of Annapurna, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri, and other mountains. After spending some time in Sarangkot, you will drive back to Pokhara, where a whole day of sightseeing awaits us: Mahendra Cave, Bat Cave, Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev, etc.

Day 4Pokhara to Lumbini via Palpa (6-7-hour drive)

Today, you will start driving to reach Lumbini via Palpa. The road is smooth, so relax and enjoy the ride. On the way, we will make a quick stop at Tansen Bazaar. Tansen Bazaar is an ancient marketplace that offers a wide range of products. Afterward, you will leave Palpa and head towards the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini. When you reach Lumbini, you will check in at the hotel. Now, the remaining time is for rest. You can explore the surroundings in your style.

Day 5Sightseeing in Lumbini and Drive to Chitwan (4-5-hour drive)

On the fifth day of the Highlights of Nepal tour, you will visit the Sacred Garden with the Maya Devi Temple depicting the birth of Lord Buddha, the Ashoka pillar pinpointing the place of birth of the Buddha, and the Sakyan Tank, where Maya Devi, the mother of the Buddha, is supposed to have taken a dip before bringing forth the baby.

All around this holy site, there are remnants of monasteries and chaityas built over the centuries following the Buddha’s birth in 623 B.C. After finishing sightseeing, you will continue the journey to Chitwan. You will reach Chitwan in the early evening and check in at the hotel.

Day 6Chitwan Jungle Safari

Today, after breakfast, the full-day safari activities in the jungle of Chitwan begin. We start our adventure with a Jeep safari inside the jungle. You will enter the community forest section to view the one-horned rhino and some other wild animals like wild boar, deer, leopard, and others, and after that, you will cross the Rapti River to get into the skirt of the main national park area. If it’s your lucky day, then you will get to see the Royal Bengal Tiger in the highland area where the bushes are as high as 5–6 feet, and along with that, you will be able to see the wild elephants and other wild animals as well.

After completing your jungle safari tour, get back to the hotel and have your lunch. Later on, you can go for a guided tour around the Tharu village and then go canoeing on the Rapti River, where you can observe the Marsh Mugger and Gharial crocodiles resting by the side of the Rapti River in Chitwan. After completing your sightseeing tour, get back to the hotel and have a rest.

Day 7Drive from Chitwan to Kathmandu (4/5 Hours)

After having your breakfast, you will start a scenic drive to Kathmandu; it takes about 4/5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. As you leave the flat Terai plains of Chitwan, the road gradually ascends into the lush green hills of central Nepal. The route follows the Trishuli River for much of the way, offering dramatic views of river valleys, terraced farms, and distant Himalayan foothills.

Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your respective hotel and take a rest. In the evening, you can explore the bustling downtown area of Thamel.
