This is a newly opened, short, easy, crowd-less, suitable for all kinds of trekkers and off-the-beaten trekking trails Indigenous People Trail Trek in Nepal. The trail is surrounded by Sun Koshi River flowing in the South, Thulo Sailung Peak in the north, and Tama Koshi River in the East. The trekkers stay overnight in the local people’s private homes as family members. Trek is the perfect combination of cultural and ethnic diversity with amazing scenery. The trail passes through different villages, which gives the trekkers a glimpse of the unique culture and lifestyle of various ethnic groups such as Majhi, Tamang, Sherpa, Thami, Newar, Yolmo, and so on. The trekkers can encounter Hindu and Buddhist practices with their deities, temples, monasteries, and stupas. Staying with the locals helps to learn and understand their lifestyle and culture.
In Indigenous People Trail Trek stunning panoramic views of Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Numbur Chuli, Langtang, Jugal, Everest, Kanchenjunga, Annapurna, and Manaslu, etc make your journey more fruitful. Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at the airport, an Asian Heritage Treks & Travel representative will greet you, holding your nameplate. From the airport, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Along the way, you’ll pass through some important landmarks, including the Pashupatinath Temple, the Royal Palace Museum (also known as Narayanhity Palace), and the Garden of Dreams, before reaching Thamel. Your accommodation is located in this tourist hub. The streets of Thamel offer plenty of opportunities for exploration.

Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site, Kathmandu Durbar Square along with the tour guide in a private vehicle. Observe the typical wood-carved temples and buildings reflecting the ancient Kathmandu city. After that, we will be heading towards Swayambhunath. The Monkey Temple where you can observe the religious harmony and tolerance between the Buddhist religion and Hindu religions along with enjoying the panoramic view of Kathmandu city. Explore the surroundings and then you will go to visit another UNESCO World Heritage site Boudhanath Stupa. It was built in 600 A.D. and is one of a kind of stupa reflecting Buddhism in the world. Explore the surroundings of Boudhanath Stupa and Visit the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the biggest pilgrimage sites for the Hindu religion people in South Asia. Explore the surroundings; observe the ritual body cremating ceremony process of the Hindu people at the bank of the holy Bagmati river. After completing your sightseeing get back to the hotel and rest.

Today you will explore two ancient cities near Kathmandu: Patan and Bhaktapur.
In Patan, you will visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites like the Krishna Temple and Patan Durbar Square, Patan Museum, and the Golden Temple, a significant attraction for both Hindus and Buddhists, as well as the Banglamukhi Temple.
After visiting Patan you will drive to Bhaktapur; is the city that was the capital of the Greater Malla Kingdom until the 15th century. This square is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Durbar Square used to be the home place of royal families. There are four different squares; Taumadhi Square, Durbar Square, Pottery Square, and Dattatreya Square. You’ll explore the ancient architecture, intricate woodwork, and vibrant culture of Bhaktapur Durbar Square. After completing your sightseeing, return to Kathmandu and enjoy some well-deserved rest.

After having your breakfast start your drive from Kathmandu to Dhunga Village via Mudhe. It is about 6/7 hours of driving. When you reach Dhunge village, start walking up to Sailung hilltop; inhabited by Tamang and Sherpa communities.

Today is the day to explore Sailung village. You will have a short walk to the high point of Sailung (3146m); which offers a spectacular view of Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Numbur Chuli, Langtang, Jugal, Everest, Kanchenjunga, Annapurna, and Manaslu, etc. The Tamang people regard the hillside village of Thulo Sailung as home to their deity, Sailung Phoi Sibda Karpo, or “White Male Lord of the Earth”. Get an insight into their ancient ancestry and role as former border patrollers. Then a short trek to Khola kharka.

After having your breakfast start descending Sailung Forest to Surkey Village, on the way you will visit the popular Rajveer Monastery. You will cross through a Tamang and Sherpa village and many Buddhist Gompas, Prayer flags, chortens, and mani stones. The trail continues to the spectacular views of the 40-foot Thinghare Waterfall before arriving in Surkey.

Start your trek towards Tinghare where you can get to enjoy the Thami Cultural Programme. Afterwards, continue to trek through Doramba Valley. Doramba is one of the largest Tamang settlements in Nepal and most of the Thanka painters found in Kathmandu Valley (especially in Bouddhanath, Swyambhunath, Bhaktapur, and Patan) are originally from this remote village. Later in the evening, we can enjoy the Tamang cultural performances.

Today, start your trek by ascending to the sacred Hindu shrine of Agleshswari Danda; a vantage point to watch over the awe-inspiring panoramic view of the mountains and the Mahabharata hills below. Continue downhill and upon reaching Khandadevi, you will visit Khandadevi Temple is dedicated to the Goddess Khada Devi. It was discovered in 1458 AD by a shepherd who saw milk oozing from a sacred stone, said to be a source of the Goddess.

Today, you will trek towards Dongme through a densely forested path filled with pine trees. You will encounter different birds and wild animals, as well as the enormous rock that is adorned with an image of Shiva, before emerging at Dongme, an ancient Yolmo settlement. After reaching the Dongme, you can spend some time exploring the surrounding areas. The village is home to several Buddhist Chortens, offering a serene spiritual retreat. You can also immerse yourself in the mesmerizing beauty of the sunset as it dips below the Himalayan ranges.

Start your trek early morning through the newly renovated eco-trail to the Sunapati hilltop to enjoy the sunrise view. Then descend to Lubughat village located on the bank of the Sun Koshi River. Lubughat is inhabited by Majhi (fisherman) communities. You can gain insights into the typical lifestyles and unique fishing traditions of the people in the village.

You will continue your trek towards Nepalthok. It will be about an hour’s walk along the bank of the Sun Koshi River. Once you reach Nepalthok, you will take a drive to Kathmandu. The ride from Nepalthok to Kathmandu takes about 3/4 hours. On the way, you will pass through diverse scenic landscapes marked by several small towns and villages, terraced farmlands, rivers, and hills, and enjoy the roadside view. After reaching out to the vibrant city of Thamel you will transfer to the hotel.

After having a night’s rest in Kathmandu.
